Don't know exactly what it is. Seller said it was a 66-16 but he knew nothing about sewing.
Serial #G9937778 It was his great-grandmother's and said it was a 1923. Any info will be appreciated

It's a model 66 with a Red Eye/Red head decal. A red eye was my very first vintage machine. I had seen one on this forum and thought it was so-o-o beautiful!!! Beware, though, if this is your first vintage machine it won't be your last!!!

If you want to clean her up make sure you don't use any harsh cleaning chemicals on her paint or you will turn the decals to silver    . A wonderful thing to use is regular old sewing machine oil. Rub it on with your fingers, let it sit for a while and then wipe it off with a soft cloth or cotton balls. Afterward you can use a good quality car paste wax (without pumice) to protect her.

For her metal parts I use a product called Maas Metal Polish. What a difference you will see!

Congrats! What a wonderful, beautiful machine. (She looks like my 66-16, Red Eye.) There is a free online Singer site that will validate age and model by the serial #. I don't have the link anymore, but you can Google it.

Now I'm really happy. I've named her Elsie, after the seller's great-grandmother. I thought that would be appropriate. She works too! Just need to clean and probably take her into the shop for a check up. The case is a brown faux alligator and in pretty good shape.
