I had a big shop with 6 employees doing rag rugs. Scissors were always gone. The main seamstress tied her pair to the sewing machine. I bought 6 new pairs and permanently numbered them. I try to make a note of WHERE WAS IT WHEN I FOUND IT FINALLY.....and the answer was in the dying room where we dyed the fabric. Often times we would find two pairs of perfectly good scissors together!!!! in the same place. I just figured it was mating season.

I forgot my worst "loss". Years ago my dd was dating a man we did not like nor trust. I had vintage diamond earrings that my mother passed on to me. I decided to hid them so just in case he talked her into taking them.

Well he is long gone and that was over 10 years ago and I never found the earrings. I forgot where I put them. We have since remodeled and redocorated our home etc. So they never were found. I can still picture exactly what they looked like and the case they were in..but they are no where to be found. Strange.

Very simple, buy replacements! Then they always turn up!

My Mom always said, "Mr. Nobody took them!"

I am so glad I am not the only person with this problem! And as I get older, it seems to get worse.

Maybe they are in the same place as my screwdriver and pair of embroidery scissors, and I have taken the sewing room almost apart. NOT THERE! Very Frustrating, lost stuff and lost sewing time looking for these items.

Do you have any kittens under 1 yr old? My 4 1/2 month kitten loves bringing my "stuff" down out of my sewing room to play with. Small snips, seam rippers, pin cushions--in other words anything he can get in his mouth!! I also put things away and never find them again until I buy replacements. I found my 1x6 ruler in my spray bottle of water. Was trying to soak off the label. lol

Ask St Anthony, finder of lost things. Say this poem and think about what you are looking for and when you last remember using it. It may take up to a half hour but he usually finds my lost things. "Tony, Tony hear my sound. Something's lost and must be found." He and I are on such good terms he usually does not let me finish the whole thing before I find whatever I am looking for. Good luck. Take care.

When you find out who is doing this, please PM me. I think they have visited my sewing room as well. Thanks for sharing.
