My machines become my BFF's-I know them inside out-so when they have to be replaced it feels like I am retiring a friendship LOL

For me, it's because they are beautiful and I respect what they allow me to do. When something is your tool for creating an object of beauty and making the world a prettier place in whatever way you can, I'd say it's a darn good friend to have in today's world.

When I had to share my sewing machine with 4 teenage daughters (all at the same time) I gave up sewing. It was very emotional. It is wonderful to have a machine all to my self. That was 40 years ago but I still remember the trauma.

For me, it is a constant companion that will do whatever I ask of it & doesn't give me any grief. Even as I'm ripping things apart, I can not fault my machine. It was all me. We have many happy memories together. It is a friend when no others are around, through the night, wee hours of the morning when no one else is stirring. I can always count on it to be there for me. It's the next best thing to a dog and I don't even have to take it for walks or feed it!!
