I am making a quilt with panels made of 6" squares set on point and vertical sashings separating the panels. There is a flying geese border. My problem is I need the quilt wider than the pattern. Has anyone sewn an outer border to a flying geese border - maybe 4" wide border? I am just wondering how it would look.

Yes I have. I had enter border than flying geese than another border. It looked great. It made the quilt have a 12" drop down

I haven't done a FG for an outside border, but I have done a large FG border around a large appliqued center block on a quilt. I added a one inch (finished size)contrasting color border on both sides of the geese. This really helped make the geese stand out. If you do that all the way around your quilt it should add the inches that you need.

Yes I have added a border after a FG border. I kept it very plain so as not to take away from FG which I had work hard on.
