In the paper yesterday there was an advice column from someone who had made a quilt, gifted it to a relative, then was upset that she saw her relative laying on the couch covered by the quilt and her dog was laying next to her on the quilt. She considered the dog on this quilt as disrespectful and vowed to never give them another one. I just laughed because I hope that's how my quilts WILL be used.

I double my bias binding and machine stitch it to the front of the quilt with a 1/4" stitch and then I sew the binding by hand with a blind stitch on the back. It goes quickly while you watch TV and you can fudge a little when you are sewing by hand.
I am doing ok with the piecing, batting and even some quilting (in the ditch of course) but I am having a miserable time with the binding. Perhaps 2.5 in is too narrow and the binding fabric is often crooked?.....maybe I dont square off properly? well I will just keep on practicing....thank you for the encouragement.
