I ordered the wide ironing board from Wal-Mart online. I love the size, the iron holder on the side and the shelf underneath. It is a great size. But the padding and cover that came with it is thin and cheap. Is there a good place to purchase a better pad and cover? Those of you who have one, what did you do?

I made my own. I used Insul-bright for the padding.

I bought a wide pad at walmart for my vintage ironing board and it is made well. it's reversable and has a storage pocket for starch bottles. It's got blue on one side and stripes on the other and was only $10

I made my own from the ironing board fabric (sold at JoAnne's of course using a 40% off coupon)

I got a pad and cover from Bed Bath & Beyond with a 20% coupon, it is good quality. I also love the width and the shelf on the bottom. I haven't, however, figured how to use that iron rest with the "bungie cord" thingy. I can't get used to laying the iron down! I would rather have a cord thingy to keep it out of the way while ironing!

I didn't know there was such a thing as "ironing board fabric"! Thanks for telling me about it.

Hmmmm, wonder if it would fit the wide ironing board I bought ? $10 is a great price!

I made my own, but there was a cover at Wal-Mart that was the size that would fit it. I think it was $10 or $12...probably $10. since someone else got one there at that price.

BTW, Hobby Lobby sells Insul-Brite cheaper than Joanns.
