Some time back, someone told where a "machine" might be found that winds thread from the cone to a spool. I thought I bookmarked it, but I can't find it. Could you please tell me the source of where I can purchase this.
I have been quilting my quilt today with a cone of thread and because I had to change the position of it, I broke 2 needles, and gobbed up thread that I had to "unstitch". GRRRR.
Greatly appreciate you help.

If I'm wanting to use cone thread as my top thread, I usually hold the cone in my lap and wind several bobbins. I've never heard of the animal you are asking about though. There is a device you can purchase at Hancocks that will allow the cone thread to come off the cone in a vertical fashion, as it was meant to be, instead of creating tasmanian devil knots like you described.

Don't know if this would work with your machine or not, but JoAnn's sells cone adapters that work quite well. I use them & don't have problems.

Aimee G; that is the name of the product that escaped my limited brain cells a few minutes ago.

I found it!!! I just ordered it from www.Clotilde.com - it is called E-Z Winder Kit. I am so happy! I hope it works like they say it will... ;-)

I'vve never heard of such.

Can it be used on any machine? I have a Janome Decor?

I have a couple of the large cones ... and the holder thingy that sits on your tabletop then threads up to the machine. I don't like it ... gets in the way, and too easy to knock over or catch in things.

Wonder?

...a while back I saw a post on here for sewing with cone thread. Put the cone in a mason jar and set it on the table top. I have been using this method for a while now and it works great!!

Just want to let you all know, this thing works GREAT! I highly recommend it if you like buying the cones of thread but struggle to get it to work well with your machine. It came with 4 spools but from what I can see, it will work with any empty thread spool. I am going to try it on some of mine to see how it works. I loved how it transferred from cone to the spool provided.
