I remember seeing some valence here on the board somewhere, that a couple of quilters did. I just do not remember where I saw them and I have been looking at many topics and posts for the last 2 or 3 days. Even did search for "valence" going though pages and pages. but there are so many pages to read that I probably missed them ....
if somebody knows what I am talking about, I would be really happy to see thoses pics again... Thank you

Try valances in the search - there are some there.

Do you have valances up to your windows now? All I did was trace around mine & put a binding on mine. Turned out great. They are the wavey kind tho, don't know what you are looking for

We are refreshing the guess room. It is in the basement with those tiny basement windows. I had a valence up but since, I did a duvet cover out of a pair of bed sheets I was not using and I practice doing appliqués on it. I have some left over, enough to sew 2 valences , one for each small window. I do not particularly want to sew appliqués on them, but I just might after all.
What I had seen here on the board was a strip of small piecing blocks sewed on a valence and I remember having liked it very much... at that time, I did not know we could bookmarked so now I am looking for that particular valence loll Well, in the meantime I look at different ways and ideas.

I also want to do a scallop edge and lined them up. True, sewing a binding would be a good idea. Thank you!

Valences are fun to make.

I like using a "tube method". I just measure the length I want, double it and and in seam allowance. After hemming the sides, I sew the ends together, turn it right side out, then measure how wide the curtain rod is, add 1/2inch and sew a seam across. Put the curtain up, then I use those plastic grocery bags that seem to multiply, wad them up and stuff them in the bottom part. Makes it nice and puffy and does not add much weight to it.
