Before I try to put this together, PM admin and such.... would any be interested? I would say sign ups would run through August and I would set the due date for early October...

I was thinking of having it done in sets of 6 - 12, probably 12" blocks.

As you can tell I'm still thinking it out a bit... but I wanted to know if there was interest.

What type of blocks did you have in mind?

I love watching the progress of the RR. Depending on how detailed you get maybe I will join.
I am not a beginner. But not sure I can keep up with some of our lovely ladies here.

More winter than Christmas. Realizing that not everyone celebrates Christmas I wanted a little more variety.

Ideas for blocks could include:

Snowflakes
Snowmen
Anything with winter themed fabrics

I'm drawing a blank at more ideas right now but I'm sure there are some.

I was even thinking to give the option of different sized blocks if people wanted to be more creative.

Humm well I only say cuz I have no way to do the applique.
It would take me forever to hand appliques.
But I think it would be fun.

There's all different kinds of ways to do applique. You can fuse it on with things like Under Wonder then stitch (straight, zigzag or decorative) around the edge and it looks fine---not as good as turned but fine and far less time consuming. Or you can turn the edges and then fuse it down and stitch around the edge with the machine.

I would be in if I didn't have to applique. What about if the block maker picks a certain block pattern and uses winter fabrics. Say a churn-dash block with snowy trees, or an embroidered snowman??? That way we all would have a "sampler" of winter blocks to put into a quilt. Each set would consist of the same block and we could make 1-3 or 5 different sets?
