Woohoo! Fabric at Walmat
I am so happy! My local Walmart (near downtown L.A.) has re-opened its fabric department. True, it is not very big, but it will certainly do in a pinch. I love it!

Our Walmart carries a nice line of flannel that I use to make receiving blankets for babies. Cut a 36" square, round the edges, serge, then crochet a shell stitch around the outside. New Mama's love them - and they don't cost an arm and a leg!

Our Wal-Mart had fabric before and when it built the new building they expanded the fabric dept. However, they have fabric now for $7.95/yd, I believe it's Fabric Traditions. If one watches closely you can find some good deals when they reduce the fabric. There's one I like that I'm hoping it will go below $5/yd eventually cause it's not selling at the moment...Patience I need...Patience

My closest Wal-Mart (SE corner of Wichita Falls, TX) also just opened a small fabric dept. I am delighted and can't wait to "need fabric" and be able to get it within ten minutes!! (I am mainly thinking of muslim backing, but I noticed they had one other backing that wasn't muslim.) I can't wait to get back and look when I am not in a hurry....

Did happen into a Walmart it Red Deer, Alberta, Canada 2 weeks ago. It was one of those new to us, Canadians, super Walmarts. Did hit the fabric center and scored! Precuts of canvas in funky colours to make hobo bags for sale.
When its good it good!

We lost our fabric dept for about 2 years, but they brought it back about 8 months ago. I always swing by just to check, but some the quality is not as great as on the net. It does do well in a pinch as ya'll stated.

I used to go to two Walmarts that are close to me when they reopened their fabric sections. But recently I noticed that they became a bit messy and there is always a long wait to find somebody to cut the fabric. I hope it improves.
