As an instructor for EQ7 and having had EQ programs since EQ4 Ilove the program! Eq 7 is by far the easiest to use and learn. If you love to audition colors and fabrics in your quilts. If you love to morph quilt patterns you have seen. If you love to say what if I did this or that? Then EQ 7 is the way to go. The photo piece of the program is a nice addition. One that I am still learning. Yes the price is up there. But well worth it in my humble opinion Also take an online class or too. Watch the videos. Join the online groups on yahoo. Practice for 15 mins a day. I learned EQ by working through every book I had for each program as well as the add on books. They are well written and fun to do. Like anything in quilting practice is the key! Luann

Marie do you have your user manual? Open the manual to page 18 and start from there. Also are you using EQ on a laptop? Are you using a mouse? It seems a strange question but a mouse is really useful for using EQ! I am here ask me anything. I am finishing a lesson on the Steppen yahoo group. They also have a section in the files for beginner users of EQ. Once you learn the buttons and how they interact EQ is a piece of cake! Luann

Hi, I had the program on a now dead laptop, and haven't yet installed it on my new desktop. It has been at least a year since I tried it & then I was following the manual but must have missed something. I have a couple of projects going that must be finished soon and them hopefully I'll have time to reinstall. Part of my time limitations is that I have been back & forth several times to my home state over the past year because of family needs so little time to sew.
Where are you in CT? We lived in Fairfield from 1976-1984, our daughter & her family still there. In all those years there I never met another person who sewed so I was always "volunteered" to make costumes for school plays. Fairfield did have 2 fabric stores, I tried my best to support them but both closed many years ago.

Oh my Gosh Maire I am so sorry I misspelled your name ugh! I must look closer when responding. I live near Waterbury and grew up in Bridgeport. I Hope you deactivated the EQ program before the computer died if it is EQ7. If it is EQ6 I would call EQ support and see if you can install the one installment on the new laptop without using an activation. It can't hurt to try. When you are ready to relearn EQ let me know. I have written lessons as well as projects we can do together. I will answer any questions you have. Take care! Luann
