I cant believe it... I was quilting my sons twin quilt with my new Singer 201 just having a good ole time and I could feel the machine starting to drag and not pull the quilt. i thought something was wrong with the machine cuz I was having to push it through and I was thinking "I thought these 201's were supposed to be so tough"  Well then I heard a clink and the walking foot was straight up and down   It broke off right as I was using it but the needle in the machine didn't even budge! I guess these 201's are pretty tough    So now I have to wait till my new straight stitch walking foot gets here to finish  I might just try to SITD on the last border with my regular foot. Stupid cheep walking foot. Now I see why people buy the penguin.

My generic walking foot broke after only using it a couple of hours! I purchased the Janome one for my machine and it is wonderful. Not as clunky or noisy as the generic one. Won't be without one again since I started using it!!!

I got a couple of them in a box I bought at an auction sale. The one I had been using broke off on the side and I got that from Nancy's notions. wasn't cheap and it broke!!!!!! the others now are made differently. sturdier. well will try them.

I broke the one for my Bernina 1260 but my dealer was able to repair it. I don't remember how much it cost. But I have gotten at least another ten years out of it.

That's where I got my generic walking foot from too. (the one that broke!)

I have not had a walking foot that lasts. Even the "official" one recommended for my machine. The part that goes over the needle bar is plastic and that's what breaks. I got a generic one where that part was metal, thinking, great! But, the feed part fell apart! Now, if I could blend them together....
