My daughter wants a black and blue quilt, Dresdan plate. She wants the background block in black ; and the plates in various black and blue prints. She has a hard time visulizing the looks ; to see if that is what she wants. I am thinking the black background will be too dark to show off the plates. Can someone with a design program come up with something to look at? I'm thinking of a 12'' block.
Thank you Elaine

I like black and blue as colours, but they do have a tendency to be dark.

You need to pick electric blues, and avoid the duller navy and dark blues.

I agree with Blue Chicken, and would suggest not using black in the segments, but of course you could use black for the centre of the plates then :D

I tried it out on my Quilt Wizard program and would go with light colors for the dresden plate It makes the blues pop out with the black background, Maybe try one block first to see what you like. I don't have the actual dresden plate template on this program used a star instead and it looks pretty neat!

THANK YOU ,Patrice, those look good.
She did pick out one fabric that was dark blue and black with white stars. but maybe if I can convince her to pick a couple of lighter or briter blues, I can make it work. I wish I had a design program , but then I would spend all my time playing with that instead of actually sewing. Is there a free program of some sorts on the internet to play with? Elaine
