Default Would like to sew a diaper bag/purse

I would like to sew a bag that is large enough to use as a diaper bag and purse. I have patterns but just so uncertain which one to sew. Anyone done anything like this? And used it for this purpose? Thanks for any suggestions sure do appreciate it.

i used Lazy Girl's summer bag for DD to use as a diaper bag. It's a nice size without being too huge. looks more like a big purse

My daughter made the "Hip Mama Diaper Bag" and it turned out really well, large enough without being overly bulky

Here is a link to the tutorial

Thanks I checked out diaper bag link, it looks good. Wonder was it difficult to sew.? It looks like it would serve the purpose rather well. Thanks again.

Judy, when my daughter made this she had some sewing experience but she would tell you she is not an expert and the bag she made literally looked like the ones you see in the fancy shops. She used corduroy for the exterior and regular cotton for the interior but you certainly could use the laminated cotton that the tutorial suggests. The laminated cottons are a little pricey but they sew just fine so that is something that really depends on whether or not being able to wipe out the interior would be a big benefit since the whole bag really is washable if needed.

I made the Professional Tote a few years ago. It would work well as a diaper bag. http://pursepatterns.com/index.php?m...roducts_id=124

I have about finished making this bag - I only need to measure the handles and then it is done. I used a heavy duty vinyl with a leather needle for the exterior and a 100% cotton interior and it sewed up beautifully.
