We went to target last night and I got a brother XL-3750. We paid around $150. Came with a quilting foot, walking foot, quilt guide foot and a cover. Only thing it doesn't do is drop feed dogs. (hopefully I will have a few tops made by the time I get my other machine from Alabama.) Also we went a got an iron, table and chair. Now all I need is some fabric and thats on todays list of things to do!!

Good for you! One of my machines doesn't drop the feed dogs either, but it came with a little plate that fits over them so you can free motion. Maybe there's one in your accessories that came with it? Or you can probably buy one from a dealer - either a Brother specific or maybe a generic.

someplace I read you can tape an index card over the feed dogs if they don't go down. Haven't tried it tho.

guess what. my machine comes with a darning plate so i can cover the feed dogs!!!! headed out the door in a few to get me some pretties!
