well, i'm a notion junkie. the only one that i've come across so far that is a blooper are the curved safety pins that are supposedly especially made for quilting. they aren't very sharp so i had to really work to get them through the sandwich. switched to the brass #1's and i'm much happier!

my favorite notion: all of them! i'm forever picking up a new ruler or something that i will 'eventually use'. my current search is for the 'fork pins' that you use where your seams meet that hold down both sides of the seam (i'm sure that's clear as mud!).

    great question!

yep, there they are (saw it in one of EB's books). i'll check locally to make sure that is a good price. if so, shipping is only $1.34!

    thanks!

Finding good, sharp pins has been a problem for me also.

Dritz are the worst ones, and believe it or not, the Prym #1 at Walmart were the best. Unfortunately, I spent a lot of money buying pins before I found them...

Good sharp scissors for applique are my best notions and the little applique pins.

I saw fork pins at Joanns yesterday. Dont know price but with a coupon it has to be the cheapest way to go.
They have Fons and Porter notions at 40% off right now so picked up some glue stick and refills.
I use the bent safety pins but bought the plastic covers with a coupon at Joanns and they do make it easy to pin.

it's a little boring, but I couldn't live without my favorite seam rippers! They are super sharp, even after all the work they have had to do for me the last 5 years!!!

Well, one of my biggest bloopers is buying the forked pins! If you really want to try them fabricluvr...email or PM me your addy...I'll send them to you! I never use them.

My favorite notion...and I am not sure this is a notion, but I love it, is the Bendable Bright Light. I thought I was being frivolous when I bought it, but it truely does the job. I sew lots of times at night and I can sew black fabric at night again! I love it.

My newest favorite is the white lead mechanical pencil. I had a hard time with the chalk and the lines were wide. I just used it on a Halloween quilt with black cats and bats on it. WOW I love that pencil.
