I tried to do this pattern, got help picking fabrics (I have some color challenges) and simply could not get it to look good. I gave up on it. I think the directions are a bit too high level.
I do know how to read and follow directions. I made my living writing requirements for computer systems, which means that I am very logical. So logic wasn't the problem...but perhaps the fabrics were.
Needless to say, I don't recommend this pattern to anyone. However, other people seem to love it.

Cathy - that is funny! You probably can do a pattern with a 1000 cuts, but not a beginner one like Yellow Brick Rd. It is a great pattern as you only have to match the corners of the blocks - the blocks can be turned so you don't have to match anything else. The fabric makes the quilt and each one will look different. It was a good one for me to start with and I fussy cut white Gardenias for the large pieces. To each his own.

Scraps, You might be right - maybe the pattern was too easy for me! I don't think so though. I think it was too many fabrics for my color challenged vision to put together.
The quilt was supposed to be for my nephew. He's still getting a quilt, just not that one. I am using some the fabrics in it - just can't let them go to waste. I suppose the rest of the fabrics will wind up in a scrappy quilt some day, but I'm kind of burnt out on them at the moment.
