Default Yet, another seeking a pattern

I want to make my greatgrandsons a quilt that's black, white and red. They're 5 & 7 yrs old. I want to do one where I can insert a 'highlight' fabric which interests each one. For example, the the 5 yo is into baseball and the violin, etc. The 7 yo is the brainiac and loves science and math. I've found the fabric I want for the 'highlight' fabric, but I'm having trouble finding a pattern.

The ohio star would be nice but it's a little too complicated for me right now. First of all, do you understand what I'm sayin? lol. Secondly, is there a pattern you'd recommend? It has to be something relatively easy.

Thanks in advance.

How about an attic windows quilt with the focus fabrics in the center and the black, red and white as the window sashes?

I agree, they're fun & easy. You could use the highlight fabric as the centers, I think that would be cute. :-)

10 Minute Block or Box Trot would be nice.

I like the attic window idea with the focus fabric as the window and perhaps a black and a mottled red as the sashes. It's easy and very striking.

you can find the BQ pattern here if interested. with directional fabrics you just must watch how you place the fabric for where the blocks will be. they get turned and turned. other than than, it's easy to do and would show off the high light prints well. good luck.
