Thank you for posting this - I had been considering minky for a quilt, now I know I don't have to!

I have used minky as a backing on at least 8 baby quilts and have never had this problem. I use a lightweight cotton batting or dream angel in the request loft. I quilt on my Innova longarm and mainly use omni thread. I also quilted an oversized queen quilt. I had to piece the minky backing and it turned out great.

I used minky for the backing once and had no problems quilting it on a longarm, maybe because I prewashed it (?).

After reading these posts I know I'm not using minky for anything other than baby blankets. I did use it for the back of a baby quilt and it's fine but I do believe there are different kinds of minky also.

Karramarie! You are right about that. I have also used Minky on the back of other quilts without batting and have had no problems. This Minky, I bought on line and it is quite "fluffy". The other Minkies that I used were very short napped and closely woven. This is the problem with ordering on line. You just never know. Thank you for your comments.

Oh my gosh, your fabric and piecing look so great, how sad that happened, I would take it out and change to batting and cotton back.

Chichimamma! It did just what you suggested. Very disappointed in the long-nap minky. I won't order that again for sure.

Thank you for your comments. I really do appreciate the help that our Members are always willing to give. Yolanda
