yo-yo makers are wonderful tools!
fon's & porter's love of quilting magazine featured a yo-yo strip quilt a few months ago- visit their web site- it is probably archived- it was a cover quilt
just search yo-yo quilts there are many many uses for yo-yo's

Default Just finished Yo-Yo Ville

I recently finished a quilt top called Yo-Yo Ville by Bunny Hill Designs. I used the Clover Y-Yo maker and the yo-yo's turned out perfectly (after I finished 90 on my own that I re-did). I really enjoyed making the whole quilt top, all aspects of it, and I gave it to my Mother (84) (I will quilt it soon) for Christmas. I just finished today a quilt top called Back on the Farm by McKenna Ryan and have also enjoyed working on that quilt top as well. I gave it to my Daddy (90) (I will quilt it soon) for Christmas.

I use the yo-yo maker and really like that they go fast and are consistant. The tool is available in several sizes.

I saw a yo-yo quilt at Ethan Allen for $900. It was made of unbleached muslin. I think it was just muslin sewed together with the batting inside and then the yo-yos were sewn on and that quilted the quilt. It was done with all ecru yo-yos...some were patterned and some were plain...top was solidly topped with yo-yos and the back showed hand quilted in circles. I hope this is clear. I added it to my "must do" list.
