Nampa quilter

My daughter is a yoga instructor and she is establishing a studio in her home, I would like to make a hanging yoga quilt for her studio. Not sure how to go about creating this quilt with yoga poses?? I am a very new quilter but love this board and have found it to be so helpful already and would appreciate any ideas on how to get started with this project. Thank you!!

I would probably go to google images and see if I could find images that I could use as silhouettes and then make blocks from that

I think you could make a really effective quilt by using silhouettes.

Put some fusible on the black fabric, draw/trace the poses from some pictures (there are a ton available on the internet), and then fuse those to blocks or place them all over some great background fabric - a multi-colored batik, perhaps.

For the quilting - just outline the figures and then quilt the background to death (so they pop out a bit).

Possibly machine appliqué, or else fabric paint. Think of each pose as your block, and then you can do interesting things with other fabrics in between the blocks. I'd look at traditional Indian art as well as chakra colour schemes for inspiration.

In terms of picking the yoga poses, decide how many you want to put up and then ask your daughter which ones she'd like, as there are loads of yoga poses out there and no doubt she has several pet ones. Or perhaps a standard sequence, such as the Salute to the Sun?

I know very little about yoga, I'm sure other people can suggest more, but I'll be watching this with interest.

There was a post on here a while back of a young girl that made an art quilt with diffrent dancers on it . I think it was black and white . I was impressed with it. maybe someone will remember it and post the link to her pic to give you an idea. I think if I were not a super skilled quilter which I am not I would stick with shilloettes.

Joann's has a fabric that has dogs doing yoga poses and they are dressed in yoga clothes. It was really cute! Ours just got it in this week. I think the background is pink. I don't recall the manufacturer. Here it is. There is a cat one, too.

I have a different thought.
Yoga is extremely self-induced relaxation and I don't think there should be anything too busy on the walls.

I would go with very soft colors, without pictures of poses, etc.
