Lol. My ufos recently doubled in number overnight - a friend had a clear-out, and gave me several sets of blocks that need making into something. They're coming in useful though, as tops to play with while doing the Leah Day Quilt Along. I'm finally beginning to get some of my ufos quilted. Then next year I need a masterclass on binding so that I get that done too!

I thought membership was free.Suddenly the list I made yesterday seems very, very manageable. Exactly how are we going to tackle these? Alphabetical order? (Mine all have temporary names). Favourite colours first? Least work required to finish? Any workable ideas? Anyone?

Since I'm new...started back sewing and quilting last summer after a 10 year hiatus from sewing. I don't have as many as these fine ladies...but.....

I can see how it happens very easily. As of now I have completed 4 bags/purses, 42" round Christmas table topper/quilted and a patriotic wallhanging/quilted. I have 3 UFOs...a quilted bag/purse for my son's girlfriend, a table runner and the rag quilt just needs to be finished clipping all of the seams. I have patterns and fabric for several more wallhangings. My downfall is books...I have a LOT already and seem to find MORE because I love looking at all of the gorgeous quilted projects.

I'm taking my 18 year old grandaughter to Joann's on Sunday since I just gave her my old machine and she wants to start making sundresses for summer. Simplicity patterns are on sale for $1.99 each/limit 10 so we will use my coupon. I already have a few things on my mental list for myself...LOL. Some of it is fabric for the Sun Bonnet Sue monthly wallhangings. I DO plan to check my very small stash for scraps before we go.

So, as I said, even being new I am getting into the habit of wanting to have everything at once so when I get bored with one project I can move on to something else. lol

How many UFOs do we need to have to become a member of the UFO Club? Is 6 quilts, 5 Christmas crafts, 4 crochet projects and 1 unmade bed count? Does that get me in?

Wait a minute - patterns don't count as UFO's - do they????????? uh-oh. I have patterns I downloaded or even bought or saved from magazines I bought. What about my super-dee-duper Jinny Beyer little ruler gizmo which does all kinds of angles I don't know how to sew yet? Like the Carol Doak paper piecing book I bought even though I have no clue when I 'll try it?

I think patterns and books and specialty rulers and so on should go under "stash" not UFO!

Nooo
Books and patterns don't count as UFO's! They are reference materials!!!! As long as you haven't purchased the fabric for the project. I'm a firm believer that if the fabric and the pattern aren't put together in the same place, then it isn't a UFO, just fabulous fabric added to your stash, waiting it's turn!! (a lame and feeble attempt at justifying my large collection of patterns, books, fabrics and ideas that I have rambling around in my head!!)

Oh NO!! we cant count specialty rulers and gadgets that we just HAD to have. I have another three or four of those. Storm at Sea, that woven ribbons thingee, ruler to make angels, Cathedral windows rectangle maker, just off the top of my head.

I pulled one out last night. It's going to become 54 by 48 not 96 by 72, but it will be FINISHED and not in a bin. Some of the fabric is not cut so it wont be wasted.

Okay I will be logging onto the UFO thread just to keep myself on the straight and narrow.

I think I need to join the UFO club. I'm in the process of reorganizing my sewing room and have already found 100 UFO's. I spend a lot of time making tops when I take care of my mom but her table isn't big enough to do any quilting using a domestic machine. What I need is time at home and not be 250 miles away. I've got 5 small ones in a stack that are close to being finished. Hope to whip them out this week. Then onto the 3 large quilts that are already pinned.
I think I could belong for free membership for at least 3 more years.
