minki is sooo cozy soft but dumb question again doesnt it make a horrible mess inside your machine with all that fluff sloff off? I have not touched it because of it scares me with mess. and after say a few washes is it still so super cuddly soft?

i wish I had time to play like that. guess I have to make time. I always wish a real quilter could come to my home and teach me a few things 1)my machine how dumb is that but sit here and show me all the bells and whistles. that would be lovely and eye opening. 2) teach me like sneaky quilting tricks only old time quilters know. stuff that you just do and think of course while those of us not in the know go omg duh when you show us. that is my fairy wish this day I am instead going to try to sew. I cut my finger pretty good trying to multitask while cooking yesterday. phone, frying, slicing a monster onion and .. me. crud. its now wrapped up like a mummy learning how to type without it getting better didnt realize how much you use your pinkie shoot. twinrivers want to see a part of your block when i get sewing? that fabric could be knotted together and look gorgeous I blame you for making me go to her site daily and wish.. its all your fault.

What am I going to do with you, young lady? While I did expect you to put some blood, sweat and tears into my quilt, I did not mean it literally. Although that is a pretty good group to dance around the house to... Promise me you will take it easy and heal that little pinky up. You need it to balance tea cups, pinky-swear, beckon waiters and sample cake batter. I think I want to be surprised, so no peeks at the block for me. If you want to post a picture in an album I promise not to look. I put the binding on your quilt today but I want to go back and do a bit more quilting in a few spots. Thank goodness my machine has behaved well with this project. I used 40 weight Sulky thread for the first time and a new #10 needle (thank you QB friends for those tips) and there was no skipped stitches. Cleraning and oiling the machine first probably helped, too!

@brat.....well I send my quilts off to the LA'er who happens to be my mom. She said she has no problem. She cleans her machine after each use anyways. My kids have all had quilts with minkie backs for a few years and haven't had a problem with them becoming un-soft.

Melinda,

I have never worked with minkie fabric so I have no feelings one way or the other. Really you make what makes you feel good and happy and I will love it.

The weather the last two weekends have been so beautiful and gorgeous I have had a hard time staying inside to quilt. We have been to the beach both weekends. We live less than 9 miles from a public access. Anyway. I picked out my pattern - which I love. I decided to order the kit. I liked the photo with the pattern. I thought the fabric was batiks. I guess my eyesight is off because when my package came in it wasn't batiks. I really didn't care for the fabric at all, but I already bought it so I decided to start the quilt. It took me a while to cut out the pieces - not because it was difficult, but because I cut each piece one at a time. I was afraid I would mess up a cut and not have enough from the kit to fix the error. So this afternoon - after spending several hours outside I finally have all my pieces cut. Below is a sneek peek of my stacks. I have a few blocks completed and I am starting to like it better. I still may have to start a whole new project if it doesn't turn out like what my partner wants. Will have to see. I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

Looks like TwinRiverFarms is coming down the home stretch for the first quilt to be completed.

NOT that there's a race going on-- not at all!

Reminder about this swap: no swapping until both partners are done.

Elisabrat-- I'm not an old-timey quilter, but I'll come to the Sierra Nevadas any day! Of course, I'd have to get ACROSS the country to do so. LOVE the mountains of California.
