I think even according to the 'labor work laws' we are supposed to get a 15 min 'potty break' after every 4 hours isn't it? And I know with MY AGE you are messing with the CHILD labor laws.....so beware!!! I was just a baby when I had my babies! LOL

heheh. I dunno. I'm used to working through breaks and working overtime, often by choice, but the last job it was managed down to the minute what you could and could not be doing. I went insane and thus why i'm jobless.. well now employed but WAS jobless So at the last job you got 2-15s and a 30 minute lunch, they were SCHEDULED.. ever try to convince a phone to not ring 1 minute before your break? guess what happens then.. you get in trouble cause your break was not in the alloted time schedule. They can fix it, but they yell at you first. Then.. aside from those breaks, you have a total of 15 minutes where you could be not "Ready" to answer calls or on calls.. and this time is expected to be the time you can pee and/or rub your eyes, and/or ask clarifying questions from your boss or whatever, and/or type up notes you had no way you could finish on a 5 minute call because you gotta get 'em off the phone on average in 5 minutes.. hehe. It was ridiculous and I have a total newfound respect for people who work in a call center AND are not jerks. I don't know how they do it without going postal. Really don't. They're stronger than I that's for sure. I have a slight empathy for call center people who ARE jerks.. it's a coping mechanism.. one I'm not biologically wired to facilitate, but I won't hesitate to knock them back into the place of Human when they try it with me after knowing how call centers work on the other side. Essentially it boiled down to, I was too nice for the job, and I can't be micromanaged and both things blew up on me. So I really am hoping this new job is really a "here's your work, don't call me unless you're bleeding" kind of job. That's when I do the best. That's when I get into a groove and work through breaks and my body is like.. peeing? peeing is for the weak.. so is eating.. and sleeping.. we got's a jive going on here and it shall not be interrupted! But that always requires music.

Anyways.. still having fun with the panic attack of OMG I'm going to start a new job tomorrow and i will be cut off from the outside world!! nooooo.

Ok now you got me wondering my son worked at a call center a few years back too.. was he a good one or a jerk? curiosity will now inspire me to ask him. He liked the job if that says anything it was not a job I wanted. He also worked doing polling for six months making those calls we all dread. Then getting people to sign up to vote.. he has had some odd jobs. Dont panic you can stuff jelly beans in your pocket and secretly snack on those while working small no one can see them and heck they are my favorite candy so perfect for your pocket. or mine you will do fine sweet girl. I think the bigger the company you work at the longer the employee manual of what you have to do is. My friend works for the courts here in Modesto and she is micro managed to a t. She got sent home by a supervisor this summer for wearing a sleeveless blouse that was 1/2 inch to narrow at the shoulder. She was not pleased. Her boss came to her desk and had a ruler with her and actually measured it. Now that is a job that would had got me going. I worked for exactly four hours for a real estate office one time. I was already older 40 so no spring chicken (sprung i was) and this gal whose name was Penny says to me, no one ever uses my name. Around here they call me teh General and you can to. The next part out of her mouth was every six months your up for revue raises are .05c per raise. I went home for lunch and didnt go back. FRIG THAT. I had gone back to work to be busy not bullhorned by some jerk of a woman who was bigger than life in her own mind. Oh hell no. So you see there are rules and there are jerks. You can take the rules Anastasia its the jerks that you have to watch out for. And if you can't have music then hum. loudly. annoy them into letting you have music. There is a reason they call it work. Crazy but its true.

ok off to table runners are you playing or not? do we need to go grab someone from other swaps to join? ok off to do that now .. how many players do we have? recruitment time ..

I agree, start posting your fabric ideas

I survived a first day. It's going to be easy, partially because I already know the systems from having worked there before. It seems like it will be a good work atmosphere, even though strict. And yes it really will be as strict as it says but one of the first thing they said was we encourage you to listen to music. haha so YAY cause I told them if they said no music I was leaving. After seeing the situation I can understand why no snacks. And their reasoning behind the no internet/phones is due solely to data privacy. Which.. well.. I don't know why this particular department is any more confidential than the other departments.. same darned info.. But whatever. I can tell you I saw many texts happening so.. it's honestly not THAT strict its a strict only if you get caught kinda deal.. haha. But what isn't right? Easy to get caught tho. Managers are always walking the floor.

Within 2 minutes of arriving and talking to the department boss alone, he basically told me if I'm as good as I say, I got a permanent job waiting for me. haha. And it appears that this department is unlike all the others where they use and abuse temps and get rid of them at a whim. This department likes long term and likes to hire permanent. So that's good. I mean I don't particularly care right NOW but at some point I might. If ever. I dunno.

Anyhoot. now.. to do homework that's due tomorrow.. luckily I read the stuff this morning before work and kinda thought about what I wanted to say.. but I'm thinking, I am too tired to work on it tonight and will submit it in the morning. I have a headache.

How many do we have so far? Sorry if this answer is back a few pages, I didn't have time to start at the beginning. LOL Can't wait. Visited some quilt shops on my way home from a meeting on Monday and got lots of ideas. Now, to just put it in fabric. I generally don't use a pattern, I like to find something I like and combine the pieces to be different. We'll see. Gonna be fun.
