If I only read the Board before calling three quilt stores! I was going by the 18x11 measurement listed. You will get a bigger cut. My LQS store said its best to cut a fat quarter then cut that piece again by turning the fabric. The directions that were given to me were: fold the material as it comes off the bolt (salvage to salvage) measure over 18" and cut. Now with that piece turn it so the cut edges are once again in front of you salvages on either the right or left and measure over 11" making sure not to measure the salvage in if you haven't cut it off. I was told to cut in 11" pieces and you got your 18x11! They sure make it sound so easy and it really is. However I got three cuts this way because I was an inch short of making the last one 11! It was funny to call a quilt store and get different measurements on a fat eight! I'm going to stick to this way and save the extra for binding or the scrap box!

Amazing how you get different answers isn't it :-) Just do what works best for you as long as ultimately it ends up the same in the end.

I forgot to add I would prefer 18x11 if that's ok.

9x22 would yield 2 pieces IF the fabric is 44" wide, and many fabrics are not 44 wide. So that's another pro for the 18x11.

Let's stick with the original plan of 18 x 11-unless someone has already cut theirs at the 9 x 22. However, if you have not cut it yet please use the 18 x 11.
Good point Mad!

I personally like the 18x11 as it does give you the ability to cut a bigger square for something if need be..

Thank you all for the input! I agree.

I think I also prefer the 18x11 but I would like to also use the few 9x22 pieces I have as well. So, for the pieces I cut, I will go with the 18x11. I think I have 7 or 8 F8's that are the 9x22. Is that okay?

List has been sent. Please let me know that you received it :-)
Im so excited!! The worksheet I sent will not only let you mail merge for address labels but it has a section so you can keep track of when you send and receive F8s to and from who and when you send and receive completed blocks and from who. Completed blocks due home by April 10, 2010.
