I took all that they had on the bolt and so I only got 20 pieces. So 20 people will be getting this. JUst use the colors in the material or anything that blends.

Reminder to everyone please....

It's great to see the fabrics and special notes HOWEVER please please please put the special notes in with your fabric when you mail them out. We'll be broken into different groups (and different threads) and it will be too hard to review over 200 comments back in this thread to see what someone wanted used with their fabric.

Thanking you in advance so I can try to match up as you desire

I went to Joann's today with the intention of just stocking up on some Kona cotton solids they have on sale. I realized during my last Boom that I did not have very much solid fabrics. It's on sale for 40% off. I was able to find some really nice blender fabric on sale also. I was planning on searching the internet for the fabric I am going to send but it jumped right out at me at Joann's I'm doing 1 large and a small group or 3 small depending on how April breaks it down (thinking about doing an extra small one ) One group will get the 3 coordinating fabrics-thinking 'shabby chic', very feminine; the other group(s) will get the grey print. I haven't decided what to ask with the grey one yet-a touch of pink?, white, grey tonals?, any suggestions??? will try to get washed, cut and packaged this weekend but I have my row robin to work on.

I am new to the quilting board and joined just for this swap. I am a beginner quilter and am excited but also nervous. I am hoping to learn a lot of new blocks to try! What does 12.5" unfinished mean? What should the block size be after I am all done sewing it? Thanks for all your help in advance!

12.5 is the size of the block when you are done piecing the block together (unfinished). Because most quilts are put together with 1/4 inch seams, once I receive your block and put it into my quilt, I will end up with a 12" (finished) block size in my quilt.

So, unfinished means the size of the pieced or appliquéd block before it is put together into a quilt top.
Finished size is the size of the block once it is put together into the quilt top. Unfinished is 1/2" larger than the finished size.

Hope that helps and WELCOME

Teresa

A Wilson...welcome! Dont be nervous...we all started somewhere and the ladies in this swap are excellent helpers! The lst thing I learned after my lst swap was to make sure the blocks are NO smaller than 12.5 when put together. If you need patterns for 12.5 inch blocks quilterscache.com is one of the best places for patterns and they have them in a variety of sizes. Most of the people will tell you what kind of colors they want with their F8. Its FUN...no stress to do it a certain way or use a certain pattern..hope you enjoy it as much as I have! Joan
