OK. Thank you. I'm really excited to get this software.
you're gonna love it. its far exceeded my expectations. i really just wanted to be able to print out the paper piecing patterns and to be able to alter some of the designs.

the added bells have just put the program over the top wonderful and i can't believe the price joanne's is selling it for - i would have still loved the program at retail price but to get it for $40 what a deal!
Speaking of PP patterns, I forgot to say Thank you for the link you posted on the fountain papers. I ordered 2 sets yesterday. I think it'll help me in doing PP with good paper.

your list of rulers looks good. do you have a way to check for square on 5 inch blocks? if not, i think you can use the small block that came with the set.

so far, with the few DJ blocks of made i've used my 6 x 12 ruler and my squaring ruler.

i'm really interested in the triangle one - it will make cutting them and squaring that much easier.

i just don't think squaring a triangle block without that ruler would be easy.

I don't know if you're talking to me or not, but I just bought the Dear Jane Rulers.. There were 2 of them. The software I bought didn't come with rulers.

i just love that paper because you can see thru it.

so you don't need to pin, glue, or iron the fabric in place.

additionally, when you use a tiny stitch the paper comes off without leaving any bits behind the stitches.

i think her price is very fair and much cheaper than buy freezer paper for the printer.

Hi Girls!
Although I'm not participating in the Christmas Dear Jane exchange (I am gearing up for January), I am so thoroughly enjoying reading all of your input. Your blocks are beautiful!
Klue -
When we start our Dear Jane in January, will we all be working on the same block at the same time? Will you be posting the patterns to paper piece the blocks (with the exception of applique which I'm going to have to learn)?
I am so excited about this group project, and thank you for all your work in doing it.
I just purchased the software from JoAnn's, and the rulers from Ebay.
Now I just have to decide on fabric!

WOw this exploded after I left work yesterday.

Anyhow I made a sample block and it turns out I love the fabrics  but I do have a question, yesterday (since I don't have freezer paper) I just used copy machine paper. It worked fine for sewing but taking it out WHAT A NIGHT MARE will freezer paper work better?

Oh and 1 more do I cut off or tear off 1 piece before piecing the piecing them together? so I don't have two pieces of paper in the seam.

should one side be removed before piecing them together?

yes, the idea is for everyone to kinda work on the same stuff together but there will be some people behind and some ahead and then some will just rearrange the work order just because it suits them better.

i'll be working 1 week ahead of the group that way i can post the method i used for that weeks blocks. if its paper piecing i'm going to show the number order of the pattern and then the finished product because there are many great paper piecing tutes (no need to make another).

then if someone did a different method then me i'm going to request that they post their method too.

then of course everyone will post their finished products so we can all drool over them.

the hope is to have threads going that can be turned into a complete full dear jane tute on the forum as a permanent record.

i'm starting to put together a schedule of blocks. the idea is 6 weeks on/1 week off to catch up.

the months will look something like this

Jan = easy blocks
Feb-May = a mix of all levels and all styles of blocks
Jun-Aug = easy blocks
Sept-Oct = a mix of all levels and all styles of blocks
Nov-Dec = easy blocks
Jan-April = finish up any remaining blocks, sew the top together, and quilt the sandwich.

Renee did you put your stitch length way down to 1.4 or 1.2 if you make the stitches tiny the paper comes out easier. It also helps not to distort the block when you do tear away the paper.
