Default Fun on the Farm/Farmer's Market -- 6-1/2" square fabric swap -- CLOSED

Welcome to the 2013 6-1/2” square fabric swap!!! Things have changed for 2013, so please read through everything before signing up.

April – June’s swap theme is “Farmer’s Market or Fun on the Farm” 6-1/2” squares, up to 6 sets. Think anything that you would find on a farm or at a farmer’s market. Ideas would be: eggs, chickens, milk, cows, fruits, veggies, trees, honey, bees, tractors, etc. Get creative and have fun!!! Max is 6 sets. We will be doing a noodle twist this month…see information below!!!

Registration is open to the first 156 Sets or until May 1st, whichever comes first. These are due in my hands no later than Friday, May 31st. If you sign up, please follow through with commitment and deadline. If you sign-up and need to drop out let me know ASAP!!! Failure to comply with the rules of this swap will results in negative feedback being posted and possible banning from future swaps.

Due to the private message constraints, I will be doing correspondence by e-mail. I have set-up a swap only e-mail address (approved by PatriceJ) at [email protected] (*Please use for swap ONLY correspondence)

*~* Please E-mail me all the info below to [email protected]: *~*
Board name:
How many sets you're doing:
Date when you plan ship your package by:
E-mail address:
Your real name:
Your mailing address:

*After I have received all of the info I will add you to the list of swappers and E-MAIL you a message with shipping instructions and a checklist.

This swap was approved by PatriceJ. The link for general swap rules. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20154-1.htm

Each swapper will submit 12 – 6-1/2” squares of any 1 UN-WASHED 100% cotton fabric that is related to the farm or a farmer’s market in some form or fashion. Please be creative and think outside the box, have FUN!!! *(If you have any questions please ask.)

Squares should be carefully rotary cut from UN-WASHED 100% cotton fabric. If needed, please take the time to fussy cut. Fabric contains two selvaged ends. Make sure you completely CUT OFF BOTH!!! Select fabrics that will hold up to a lot of love, wear, and tear as well as multiple washings. Fabrics that fray easily or are fairly easy to see through are not good fabrics for this swap. Please be advised that fabrics that are NOT appropriate related fabrics, squares that are not square, off grain, those that are not the right minimum size, those with the selvage edge still attached, or those that are deemed unusable by me will be returned unswapped. If selvage edges are left on, I may return the entire set unswapped. Please keep in mind I have the right to return all or part if your set is deemed unacceptable…so please take the extra moment to look over your 12 squares carefully before sending to me.

I will accept squares 6-1/2” – 7” as most of us will use them as is. Anything less than MY 6-1/2” measurement will be returned. If you are unsure of your accuracy, over-sized squares will be accepted as they can be cut down to size if need be... please nothing over 7”. Approximately 1/2 of a yard will yield 12 count – 6-1/2” squares nicely. If you are fussy cutting, please buy extra.

* - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - *

Here’s how it works:

In your package to me you will enclose:

** 1 QUART SIZED (Hefty/Ziploc) bag with 12 count – 6-1/2” (up to 7”) squares of ONE fabric for each set. (Please DO NOT send a gallon sized baggie. If you send gallon sized baggies, please send extra for postage.)
~Fabric must be UN-washed, ironed and in quart sized bags for safe passage thru USPS.
~ Selvages MUST be removed entirely from both ends. Be sure to remove ALL selvage holes. Any sets with selvage edges left on may be returned unswapped!
~ Please remember that each set (baggie) should be cut from a different unwashed fabric
~ 5-6 sets fit in ONE priority flat rate envelope… *(confirm with your PO for price increase) more than 6 sets will fit in the legal sized or padded flat rate envelopes.

** Write your screen name ON your baggies along with SET amounts. For example, if I wanted to do 4 sets, I would write Yosamitesa X 4 on the bag in a Sharpie or pen that will not rub off or on a label attached to the baggie. ~~MUST HAVE NAME ON BAGGIE!!! If there is no name, you may get your own fabric back or you may get someone elses...

** INCLUDE YOUR REAL NAME AND MAILING ADDRESS ON EACH SWAP BAGGIE*** Should your envelope be swallowed by the USPS machines, they can get the fabric back to you, instead of being lost at the lost mail facility being played with by the mail trolls.

** Please staple (or tape) a piece of your fabric on the outside of the baggie. A piece of your fabric is required stapled on the outside of the individual baggie for identification purposes. (See picture)

***Also in your package INCLUDE a sandwich baggie or envelope with the following:
**Sample pieces of each of your fabric(s) stapled to 1 small piece of cardboard/cardstock/paper/etc.
~The fabric must be big enough for me to determine which fabrics you sent in; approximately 2”x2” from your left over fabric is perfect.
~Also include on the paper your board name, your name and your mailing address (an address label works great). (See picture)
~My goal with this is so that I will NOT give you any of your fabric back. This helps me keep up with what everyone sent in as a quick reference, since I will have (hopefully) over 150 sets and a toddler who gets into EVERYTHING!
**A self-adhesive return address label
**Return priority postage of $5.95 – DO NOT SEND YOUR OWN ENVELOPES. Every package will contain delivery confirmation back home to you. This way I can track to make sure all are delivered. Please remember that if you do not send enough return postage I will not be able to return your swapped squares until you send me the difference. IF YOU DO NOT SEND AT LEAST $5.95, I will return your squares unswapped once postage is received. After 30 days, I will donate the unclaimed squares to charity. I WILL NOT ACCEPT PERSONAL CHECKS!!! Postage stamps, Post Office money orders, or concealed cash at your own risk will be accepted as forms for shipping costs (NOT metered postage as some of these expire before I can get the packages back to you).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now for the TWIST!!!
The twist theme will be – ANYTHING COTTON in your stash!!! -- NO homespun, flannel, or broadcloth!!!
~ ONE 2-1/2” x WOF strip from FIVE different Hodge Podge fabrics in each set.
~ 2-1/2” strips must be from 100% unwashed cotton fabrics
~ Please cut carefully - NO ‘V cuts at the folds …
*** Place all five 2-1/2” x WOF in a SNACK OR SANDWICH size baggie- FLAT and staggered so I can count them.
*** Label EACH SANDWICH baggie with your board name and state you are from i.e. Yosamitesa – Texas ***DO NOT PUT YOUR ADDRESS ON THE BAGGIES. I will be swapping baggie for baggie this time, so if you don’t want others to have your address, don’t put it on there. You will NOT get your original baggie back.
*** Max SIX (6) twists per member
*** This TWIST is optional - Not mandatory to participate in the twist to join this swap, however you must be in the swap to participate in the twists.***

I need these in hand no later than Friday, May 31st. A post mark no later than 05/24/2013 should give the USPS ample time to deliver without a grace period. After 05/24/2013, PRIORITY or FLAT RATE ENVELOPE shipping is recommended. After 05/28/2013, OVERNITE shipping or FedEx, etc. is required. IF YOU SHIP OVERNIGHT, CONTACT ME ASAP BEFORE YOU SHIP!!! International members need to send them to me sooner- PM for details.

Please remember that any packages received after 05/31/2013 will be automatically returned unswapped. Any member not fulfilling commitment will not be accepted in any of my future swaps and negative feedback will be posted to members account per Moderators requirements.

Yeah, I will post them in a little bit, I need help deciding, hehe. I have so much farm fabric! I am excited, I am going to Tacoma for a week, but first going to spend the weekend in Portland with My Sister, celebrating the Wearin'o the green! Her Son and Daughter in Law are going to run in a race there. it will be fun to be a part of the Audience! Usually I am running with them, but we will be watching the Grand Sons's, who one just happens to have his birthday on St Patrick's day!
