You are doing the right thing to respect his wishes. Take your time with your dad. I left the hospital only 3 times (only for a couple hours each time) during daddy's illness. He was recovering, we thought, so I went home his last night. I made it back just as he had a massive heart attach. I don't feel guilty for going home but I do wish I had stayed and had those few hours at least in the same building with him.

Louise,I'm so sorry for your loss of your mom and now with the trouble of your dad. I lost my mom when I was 28 and my dad when I was 12.Doesn't matter when you lose them it is heartbreaking.I'm sure you are counting your blessings at having had them this long. God bless you and your in my prayers . Hope his passing is painless.Big Hugs Mary

My heart goes out to you. You've been enduring a lot with your family and I will definitely keep you in my prayers. Spend as much time as you can with your dad. His request for DNR is not easy but to honor it means much to him and that you are respecting it says a lot of how much you love him. {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}
