Melinda, I can't remember the name but it was in the Spring 2012 of a quilting magazine. I think Fons and Porter but not real sure. It is super easy. 12 Fat Quarters and 4 yards of white fabric. I used the Batik Fq'a I got from the Shop when I was in Seattle and took the Ferry to the Island, I think Blaine?? Any way the set of 12 Fq's was really really expensive (I paid $62.00 for 12 fat quarters and really thought I was pretty foolish to do that. So I am keeping the quilt, can't afford to sell it!) The next one I make with this pattern will be with some inexpensive fat quarters!

Marybeth, I love the quilt that is on your Avatar. What is it called? I might have to make one of those for me before I turn 75.

Being from the Mtns of California I am happy to be in good old wet Oregon right now! Hubby says lots of snow at home, here it is just wet! My Mom lives in Lebanon, near Albany.

Wow lots of Roots in Oregon here. My Sister lives in Crawfordsville and my Ex In laws live in Sweet home. I used to live in Brownsville. My daughter was born at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene 33 years ago! so I really have a lot of family and memories here! I would move here in a heart beat but hubby loves So Cal and all his family is there! I am just very thankful for the internet and how small it has made the world. Melinda since we did not get to meet when I was in Seattle, you will have to let me know if you come and visit your Mom over the next few weeks, maybe we can meet after all! I can't believe I actually told you all how much I spent on those Batik FQ's, if hubby ever found out, well lets just say I would not have to worry about where to live LOL...

Well it is midnight so I am going to go to bed! Good night ladies!

Linny, you got me interested in underground railroad quilt codes. I had not heard of this b4, so now I've been doing a little digging myself. If anyone else is interested in the subject, here are some interesting links:

Mindless and Linny, I have a book of Hobo symbols for making a quilt. Some of the quilts are really neat. I have been collecting the homespun fabrics to use on that. I want my quilt to 'say' something with the symbols, but haven't as yet sat down to figure out what the message might be - something about real nice lady, grumbly man!! LOL

Swap partner and I have finally made some sort of decisions on types of quilts - mine will be a log cabin and hers is an Asian style fabric blocks (surprise, surprise). Will be getting more excited as this progresses! Will definitely post pictures as we proceed.

I have started this quilt and there's a quilt shop that carries the fabric that was used in the blocks in the book.

I have also made three of these quilts and one was in a quilting group. The book is very interesting as well.
