Each swapper will submit 12 – 6-1/2” squares of any 1 UN-WASHED 100% cotton fabric that encompass Animal Ark -- lions, tigers, bears, cats, dogs, sheep, horses, animal print, animal tracks, etc. Please be creative and think outside the box. *(If you have any questions please ask.)

Squares should be carefully rotary cut from UN-WASHED 100% cotton fabric. If needed, please take the time to fussy cut. Fabric contains two selvaged ends. Make sure you completely CUT OFF BOTH!!! Select fabrics that will hold up to a lot of love, wear, and tear as well as multiple washings. Fabrics that fray easily or are fairly easy to see through are not good fabrics for this swap. Please be advised that fabrics that are NOT appropriate related fabrics, squares that are not square, off grain, those that are not the right minimum size, those with the selvage edge still attached, or those that are deemed unusable by me will be returned unswapped.. Please keep in mind I have the right to return all or part if your set is deemed unacceptable…so please take the extra moment to look over your 12 squares carefully before sending to me.

I will accept squares 6-1/2” – 7” as most of us will use them as is. Anything less than MY 6-1/2” measurement will be returned. If you are unsure of your accuracy, over-sized squares will be accepted as they can be cut down to size if need be... please nothing over 7”. Approximately 1/2 of a yard will yield 12 count – 6-1/2” squares nicely. If you are fussy cutting, please buy extra.

* - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - *

Here’s how it works:

In your package to me you will enclose:

** 1 QUART SIZED (Hefty/Ziploc) SLIDER bag with 12 count – 6-1/2” (up to 7”) squares of ONE fabric for each set. (Please note that the gallon sized baggies are getting harder to stuff into the flat rate envelope)
~Fabric must be UN-washed, ironed and in quart sized bags for safe passage thru USPS.
~ Selvages MUST be removed entirely from both ends. Be sure to remove ALL selvage holes.
~ Please remember that each set (baggie) should be cut from a different unwashed fabric
~ 5-6 sets fit in a priority flat rate envelope… *(confirm with your PO for price increase) more than 6 sets will fit in the legal sized or padded flat rate envelopes.

** Write your screen name ON your baggies along with SET amounts AND TWIST AMOUNTS. For example, if I wanted to do 4 sets and 2 twists, I would write YosamitesaX4 + 2 TWISTS on the bag in a Sharpie or pen that will not rub off or on a label attached to the baggie. ~~MUST HAVE NAME ON BAGGIE!!! If there is no name, you may get your own fabric back or you may get someone elses...

** ALSO INCLUDE YOUR REAL NAME AND MAILING ADDRESS ON EACH BAGGIE***NEW REQUIREMENT!!! Should your envelope be swallowed by the USPS machines, they can get the fabric back to you.
** Please staple (or tape) a piece of your fabric on the outside of the baggie. A piece of your fabric is required stapled on the outside of the individual baggie for identification purposes. (See picture)

Also in your package INCLUDE a sandwich baggie or envelope with the following:
**Sample pieces of each of your fabric(s) stapled to 1 small piece of cardboard/cardstock/paper/etc.
~The fabric must be big enough for me to determine which fabrics you sent in; approximately 2”x2” from your left over fabric is perfect.
~Also include on the paper your board name, your name and your mailing address (an address label works great). (See picture)

~My goal with this is so that I will NOT give you any of your fabric back. This helps me keep up with what everyone sent in as a quick reference, since I will have (hopefully) over 150 sets and a toddler who gets into EVERYTHING!
**A self-adhesive return address label
**Return priority postage of $6.00 – DO NOT SEND YOUR OWN ENVELOPES. Every package will contain delivery confirmation back home to you. This way I can track to make sure all are delivered. Please remember that if you do not send enough return postage I will not be able to return your swapped squares until you send me the difference. IF YOU DO NOT SEND AT LEAST $6.00, I will return your squares unswapped once postage is received. After 30 days, I will donate the unclaimed squares to charity. Due to quick turn-around I WILL NOT ACCEPT PERSONAL CHECKS!!! Postage stamps, Post Office money orders, or concealed cash at your own risk will be accepted as forms for shipping costs (NOT metered postage as some of these expire before I can get the packages back to you).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now for the TWIST!!!
The twist theme will be SUNNY – any yellow &/or orange fabrics -- NO homespun or broadcloth!!!
~ ONE 2-1/2” x WOF from FIVE DIFFERENT orange &/or yellow fabrics in EACH twist set (each twist will have 5 different fabrics in each baggie).
~ 2-1/2” strips must be from 100% unwashed cotton fabrics
~ Please cut carefully - NO ‘V cuts at the folds …
*** Place all five 2-1/2” x WOF in a SANDWICH size baggie- FLAT and staggered so I can count them.
*** Label EACH SANDWICH baggie with your board name and twist amount. i.e. Yosamitesa x2 Twists
*** Max SIX (6) twists per member
*** This TWIST is optional - Not mandatory to participate in the twist to join this swap, however you must be in the swap to participate in the twists.***

* - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - *

I would like to have these in hand no later than 08/24/2012. A post mark no later than 08/18/2012 should give the USPS ample time to deliver without a grace period. After 08/18/2012 PRIORITY shipping is recommended (i.e. flat rate). After 08/22/2012, OVERNITE shipping or FedEx, etc. is required.... International members need to send them to me sooner- PM for details.

Please remember that any packages received after 08/24/2012 will be automatically returned unswapped. Any member not fulfilling commitment will not be accepted in any of my future swaps and negative feedback will be posted to members account per Moderators requirements.

I will then sort 08/25 –09/01 and hope to mail out squares on 09/04/2012 –No later that 09/07/2012

Any questions please pm me. I'll be happy to assist any way I can. Happy quilting everyone!!!!

Quick question before I commit my self just to make sure I understand- The 12 unwashed 6 1/2" squares can be all from 1 fabric and then if I choose to do another set that can be 12 squares from another fabric and so forth.
So if I wanted to do 3 sets I could just choose 3 different fabrics and each fabric would satisfy 1 set.

Thank you

Correct. When I get your sets, I swap them out, so if you send in 3 sets (12 squares / fabric from 3 different fabrics) you will get 36 different squares back. Depending on size you may or may not get your own back or duplicates.

HOWDY Y'ALL (oops. sorry, I didn't mean to shout.) Add 6 twists to my 6 sets. I didn't know I owned such a variety of orange/yellow fabric! Cindy, you asked about the remodel....well, just say this we have purchased the cabinets and they are some where between Wisconsin and Missouri; the stove top, dishwasher and hood are in the living room along with the family room furniture. the ovens, counter tops are picked out and on hold as well as a beautiful glass book case/curio cabinet. Now to just get it all going....and into the PROPER rooms. Mary Ellen

Oh my gosh!!! So...does that mean you are cooking in the living room while seated on the comfy couch or recliner???

I can totally picture that!!! :D

Count me in for 3 sets and 3 twists!

marybrace 07-31-2012 04:44 PM

DUH....if I want to do 6 twists, does that mean I need 30 different fabrics? or can I use 5 fabrics and make 6 identical twist bags? I know I've done this before but I was younger then.

No, Yosamitesa, I'm not cooking in the living room. It's just that all the new appliances are there along with all the furniture and packed boxes from 2 rooms......If and when they do start, my sewing room will be closed.....with me on the other side of the door.

frustratedquilter40 07-31-2012 04:54 PM

I am in for 3 sets and 6 twist  I e-mailed you all the pertinent info you request to the e-mail you supplied.

Thank You

sapdoggie 07-31-2012 05:52 PM

marybrace- I would be lounging on the recliner while eating meals delivered :D

No sense putting up with all the confusion for nothing. :)

Remeber to put in a small fridge for drinks and snacks when you lock yourself in the new studio

For those that have been asking...here is the line-up for the next couple of months!!!

August -- Animal Ark (animals, animal prints, animal words, etc.) -- twist is Orange & Yellow strips
September -- Wintry Holiday (open to your interpretation) -- twist is BRIGHTS
October -- Passionately Pink (anything pink as long as it "reads" pink - this swap is a reminder for Breast Cancer Awareness month, which is very near and dear to my heart)-- twist is Hodge Podge (whatever you have in your stash you want to bust out)

All swaps are 6-1/2" squares and all twists are 2-1/2xWOF strips

Hope that helps

Is it possible to do 1 set with 5 twist sets or do you have to have 1 set for each twist you do?

So do I. This is only my second one, but I am hooked. I'd given up swapping for quite some time due to a sour experience with another group. We may have another swapper next time, because my guild president saw my fabrics and was floored at the good quality and selection I got. Apparently the last time she tried to swap I spy fabrics with a group, she got crappy fabric. I told her that won't happen in this group! I ordered some fabric, as I didn't have enough. I gave in and ordered from equilter. That place is addictive. Somehow something off my wishlist and to make myself a pillowcase made it in the cart, too... where do all of you like to shop for novelty fabrics for the swap?
