that is exactly the fabric I thought you sent. This is the block I made and mailed. I will look and see if I have any more of your fabric tonight to make another one :)

I finally got my swap blocks sashed last night. I will use 2 of them on the back and had to omit one that was too small :( Now, what to border it in? |

Whew! Here is my Boom 9 quilt top, just finished last night. I love it! The finished size is a draping queen. I wasn't sold on using black until I found the perfect black for it (the second picture is a closeup). Sorry for the mess.. Quilting trumps cleaning. :)
Now, what color backing should I use? And what color thread to quilt? White thread will show up on the black sashing, but black thread will show up all over the blocks.. What do you think? |
The back should be the same red used in the broken dish blocks. If you need to stretch it - maybe make broken dish blocks in black and white using the same black as the sash strips then piece the back.
How do you plan to quilt it? I would definitely use white in the sash strips. I think you need something simple for each block - crosshatch or similar. |
I don't have that much red left, unfortunately. The swap fabric (red flowers on white) and the broken dish fabric (white flowers on red) were both in that yard sale bundle I got a couple years ago. I have twelve 6in squares left of the broken dish fabric, and one swap block that I ran out of room for. I thought about doing a pieced back with those.. Hmm..

Sounds like you need to take an LQS trip with your close quilting friends! :D

I do believe you're right... :)
