December fq swap

Description: This will be a monthly swap. You will sign up each month and you can choose each month whether or not to participate. You will be given a random person to swap with and that person will change each month.
Each month there will be a different theme or color that we will swap. There is a limit of two swaps per person.

**Each person will swap 5 fat quarters that go with the theme or color of the month.
**FQ's can be purchased or can be from your stash but they must be 100% cotton and they must measure 18 x 22 inches (standard FQ).
**They should be 5 DIFFERENT FQ's.

For the month of DECEMBER the theme isWINTER. It can be patterns, designs or colors. This is different than Christmas fabric. Think snow, snowflakes, ice skates, mugs of hot chocolate, mittens, silvers, blues, sparkly like snow, winter activities, etc. etc.
Since there isn't a whole lot to this swap, the turn around time will be pretty fast. Sign up until noon on December 3rd, receive person's name and address by December 5th and mail out no later than December 15th. Participants are required to PM me when they have received their FQ's and are required to post a PM thanking the sender. You don't need to let me know that you have mailed.

*When you send your FQ's please be sure to include your board/screen name so that people know whom to thank.

If you would like to participate please PM me with your board name, full name and address and the number of sets you would like to do. Two set limit.

Please see the rules for all board swaps and PM me with any questions. This swap has been approved by the admin.

OK. I just sent my PM for December FQ's. I love this swap. I have been doing a block each month with the FQ's I get. It gets my creative juices flowing. So much fun. And easy enough for us beginner (less than a year) quilters.

Elisabrat 11-30-2012 08:08 AM

ok everyone listen up here: DO NOT POST YOUR FULL NAME ADDRESS HERE go to the person who is leading the swaps name hold the cursor over it options appear to go private message and in that is where you post it. I think most if not all of us are good people but a search for your name will pull up your messages here.. if you post your real name and if it pulls up this message you posted it will also show your address that you listed hence why we do it in private messages. Its really easy and its so much safer for you. Honest. I am glad to see everyone joining here. I am new to this swap and last month loved it so much I have already dug into the stash of fabric that I received and used it! I am going right now to pull and cut what I consider winter fabric. there is so much interpretation there. And Ny gal I could always use a bit more Christmas so maybe if you ask you could be lucky enough to be paired with ME and it would be ok with our dear fearless group leader? I am sooo happy to be accomidating if I can :)

Vanogay 11-30-2012 04:53 PM

Ditto to everything Elisabrat has said, PLUS, you maybe need to read more carefully the first page of instructions which states to send a PM to the hostess (Brenda21) AND then once you've shipped and received, there are again some PMs that need to be sent. Failure to send those PMs could result in your not being able to play again in future months.

Jaba, If you have to get more fabric so you can have some, get some extra for me, too!!

MaryMo 11-30-2012 05:35 PM

Jaba, I'll take some fabric tooo. I went shopping today for this swap and found some great fabrics for someone here.

jaba 11-30-2012 05:52 PM

Okay ladies I'll get right on that for ya'. MaryMo are you sending me some too?? And when you go shopping Vanogay, don't forget my little care package, I'll be so grateful!!!

MaryMo 12-01-2012 06:26 AM

Hey Jaba, I have some great fabric for you .... that is, if you are my swap partner. How is Brenda ever going to match up all of us?

jaba 12-01-2012 07:49 AM

If we're not partners you can still send it....all donations are very welcome at this house

Vanogay 12-01-2012 09:03 AM

Jaba, you're talking Mardi Gras colors, right?;)

jaba 12-01-2012 09:10 AM

I don't care Vanogay, I just go with the flow.....what ever is "tripping your trigger". Just about all fabrics works somewhere and sometime.

MaryMo 12-01-2012 10:28 AM

I'm thinking Mardi Gras just might be January's theme.

starshine 12-01-2012 05:44 PM

Went shopping today for *winter -not Christmas*- FQs. It seemed to me like you all had already bought up the winter fabric. I'd see one and think "that's cute" then I'd notice some ornaments, or presents somewhere in the pattern .... But I did find some.

Vanogay 12-02-2012 09:23 AM

I'm ready for a Mardi Gras theme - would love to see what types of fabrics I would get in return!!

Elisabrat 12-02-2012 12:35 PM

oH no send me Christmas sorta vs mardigras! those can go to Jaba. LOL never thought of her love of purple and teals being Mardi Gras but now that you mention it.. she is an ex New Orleans pat and didnt know it! in her other life, in her secret life Jaba was known to wear peacock feathers and pearls and jewels where ever she went.. heck with rings on her fingers she went for strands on her... ah now that is an image :)

I was trying to figure how on earth one got purple and teal into winter themes so please enlighten me. I guess I don't know when exactly Mardi Gras is.. I think champagne and bubbles and New Years balloons for January. And Christmas in purple? who would do that? LOL (jaba..).. off to hang pigs from my tree. Serious one should take those ornies seriously. Like my glass snowman in a hawaiin shirt with sunglasses on. that serious. (just like me very serious)

ssnare 12-03-2012 02:50 PM

Linda, Mardi Gras is in February this year - don't have a calendar in front of me, but check your 2013 for Ash Wednesday and Mardi Gras is the day before that. (it translates as Fat Tuesday - and it's a day of revelry, celebration and eating). Mardi Gras is just the one day (Tuesday) which happens during the carnival season (It starts on 12th Night or Jan 6). It wasn't always the 'boob show' that it seems to have become lately. It was good family fun. Now it seems to have degraded into drunken brawls. The main colors are green, purple and gold - Green for faith, Purple for justice and Gold signifies power. That's the end of your lesson for today. Laissez Le Bon Temps Rollez.

jaba 12-03-2012 03:52 PM

Thanks Vanogay, I didn't know half the stuff you just told us. No wonder I like purple gold and green. I've always loved purple since I was a little girl , maybe that's why my Mother always told me to "do unto others as you want others to do unto you" I probably fall was short of how she was but I try and it certainly makes me a happier person most of the time.
See Brat, you'd like it too, green, purple and gold.

MaryMo 12-03-2012 05:23 PM

I'm waiting to send out December's FQs while anticipating January's theme ..... I could do purple, green and gold.

brenda21 12-03-2012 06:45 PM

should have names out tonight or tomorrow:thumbup:

Elisabrat 12-03-2012 10:14 PM

noooo no purple green and gold. shoot my purple would look like it was color washed its not bold. my green is not bright and gold is cowboy gold. now how does that work? a cross dressing cowboy in his spring finery? I say we fly right past mardi gras and go to.. how about new yrs promises? to garden more/ to spend time with your children or parents more (uh what do you like to do with them) or to.. oh no its going to be mardi gras I can feel it. Brenda say it isnt so...!!!!! OOOH NOOOO Mr. Bill!

jaba 12-04-2012 07:13 AM

Just had another thought, I know its scarry! How about Valentine's, then we'd all have new fabric for a nice runner or ?Red, white, hearts, cupids......
