July Fat Eighth swap ~ Sign-up Now Closed
Description: This will be a monthly swap. You will sign up each month and you can choose each month whether or not to participate. You will be given a random person to swap with and that person will change each month.
*Each month there will be a different color choice or theme that we will swap. This is a great stash building swap. Great for scrap quilters! **Each person will swap 6 fat eighths with the color of the month OR theme choice. **F8's can be purchased or can be from your stash but they must be 100% cotton and they must measure 9 x 22 inches (standard F8). **They should be 6 DIFFERENT F8's. ~Please send something that you would like to receive~ For the month of July the theme is FLORALS. Your F8's can have anything to do with flowers. There isn't a lot to this swap,so we'll do a quick turn around. Sign up until noon on July 8th, you'll receive person's name and address by July 11th and mail out no later than July 19th. ** Participants are required to PM me when they have sent & received their F8's and are required to post a PM thanking the sender. Remember, we love to see pictures here, so please try to post pictures of what you receive. If you would like to join the fun, please PM me with your board name, full name & address, and the number of sets you would like to swap. *Approved by Patrice* |

since i am new to this swap this question may have been asked before so forgive me asking again. i see the fat eighth size listed as 9' x 22' which is a regular eighth cut instead of a fat eighth cut at 18" x 11". has it always been the regular eighth cut?
i had cut my f8's from some fat quarters (which would be 18" x 11" cuts) before i went back to reread the rules on cuts, mailing dates, etc. so am i sol here????:D this chart is what i used before to cut my f8's for other swaps. help the f8 swap newbie here.:shock: if i cannot use my f8 cuts at 18" x 11" to trade i will go scurry up some other fabrics. http://0.tqn.com/d/quilting/1/5/3/J/-/-/fatquarters.jpg |
a fat quarter is 18 x 22.
What I do, any some others here, is take a fat quarter and cut in the middle. This should give you 2 pieces that measure 9 x 22. Does this make sense? I'm sending you a pm.:) |

same comment as above for me ... I'm not picky about exact size, just need pieces for scrap quilts. I only get annoyed if total amount of fabric is a lot less than expected (like 8 x 18 or 10 x 16). I usually add extra fabric to my pieces or add extra fabric; I got (what's another word for "pissed off"?) when my partner sent a lot less fabric than expected. but I haven't had to swap with that quilter again ...

I am also fine with either size, and also agree that the main thing is to get the right "total amount"...I feel that if you are sending the correct amount, you should get at least that back...and if someone can't send right amounts then just don't sign up to swap...I also try and send a little extra, actually have thought when cutting mine and re-checking sizes that I want to make sure I don't "short change" anyone...I certainly don't want to be "that gal" anyone is "highly peeved with"...:cool:
