I have enjoyed this thread very much and the swapping. Like Corry, sometimes I am late getting out my blocks. Life gets in the way. Some blocks take 2-3 days to do for what ever reason that is a big chunk of time. On the other hand sometimes blocks only take minutes to do. Sometimes the fabric is not right.

I did like seeing what everyone else was doing, theme wise. Also who is participating in this swap.
Swap is for fun and learning new techniques. That takes time.

Like life many times chat gets off swap topic, sometimes difficult to follow. If this goes on for to long, is it possible for you as moderator to send a PM to individuals off track reminding them the world is watching their conversations. Then again we are here to support each other. We all need to step back take a couple of deep breaths and start over with a smile.

Smiling.......and taking deep breaths...and would love to see everyones themes too when they can. Someone sent in recently a photo of all their house blocks together and then all the snowball blocks. It was so nice to see all her blocks!

I agree with you cjr....I put more time into making a block for you people than for myself. I look for just the right fabric and if it is not in my stash I go and shop for it. I guess I figure if it might be late I will at least make sure it was worth waiting for...lol. Catch ya'll later, have to run to Walmart before the son in law brings the grands back home.

We can't forsee what life throws at us and once things happen it is too late to say well....I quit the swap now. I am trying to fulfill my part and had pm'd my partners. As you say....It "isn't" fair for people to not recieve their blocks...I am missing a few too. I guess after the year I have had I just am more conscious of how life can become a challenge for us all. I am sorry for speaking about my problems I was having but I just thought it was important that we remember there are most likely alot of times it is not intentional that we don't get our blocks on time. I am really sorry if I have made this swap unpleasant. For the most part I have enjoyed the swap and learning to do different blocks and talking with the members of this group. Corry

Thanks for your input, cjr, and everyone else's.
There may be several things that can be done to address some of these issues/concerns/suggestions.
1. I can work on creating a list of participants and their block theme (and if they would like to do extra swaps).
2. If you go to the GROUP section and click on the blue # of participants, it will lead you to a list of all of the participants. Click on a participant it brings up their profile; and it gives you the option of sending a PM.
3. The GROUP section is new to this swap since the conversion to this new board. I think it has more advantages than we are currently utilizing. It is a great place to post pictures which can be viewed without having to wade through lots of conversations on the forum section of the swap. They stay there indefinitely in one tidy spot with room to post the description. If you click on a picture in the GROUP section, you can also leave a comment.
4. We all know the "rules", but we all know that unexpected circumstances can keep us from sending out blocks on time. The key is communication, common courtesy. Please let me know by PM if this does not happen.
5. I can set up a "discussion" in the GROUP section labeled by month where participants can post comments about that month's swap. This may allow comments concerning only the monthly swap to be segregated to one spot but still allow the "forum" (current discussion area) to continue as a chat area about extra swaps, any block questions/problems or advice, and general participant conversation where we can get to know each other better; check in and say "hi, how are you doing", share the joy of being members of this great group and support each other in whatever way we can.

COMMENTS, PLEASE.

Thanks.

Shirley,
I had a thought... and it would take some support from Patrice... since there is no activity pages anymore where you can get in and edit, but instead we have the group pages where you have to make a new post for any changes... maybe on the monthly here's your partner post you could add a * next to those who are open to additional swaps or something. then, maybe we could have a spot on our profile where we can list current themes... that way we can change them as we please, and it takes a bit of the pressure off of you.... but then again, that doesn't give a list of themes either...

Thanks for the ideas, shnn. I don't mind setting up a participant/theme list as a "discussion" in the Group section. I have editing priviledges there so I could make any theme changes that I am informed of. I really like your "*" suggestion.
Thank you!

Thanks for posting my block. I still hve to learn how to do that and the forum has nothing to do with it. I couldn't do it with the last set up. Will work at it.

Can you correct my ignorance on this? How are sunflowers associated with ALS? My grandfather had that. Thanks.
