Needlecase Exchange 4

Hi Everyone,

It's time to sign up for the next Needlecase Exchange.

There is no theme to this exchange, but on this occasion I will be assigning partners.... so you will send to your partner and they will send to you.... this will allow you to contact each other and create your own theme should you wish to do so.

CONSTRUCTION:-

1. The case does not have to be quilted, although it surely can be, but it must be handmade - not shop bought.

2. It must be made of 100% cotton fabric or wool felt. Embellishments and pretty’s are very welcome as is applique.

3. The size and shape of the case is up to the individual creating it, but should not be smaller than 4” x 3”.

MANNERS:
Please remember to thank your partner. Just a simple post is great. Please also let me know when you send and receive so that I can mark my records and make sure everyone receives a needle case. It would be great if you could post a picture, but if you are unable to post a picture, please ask your partner to do so. Much of the fun is seeing everyone's creations. Also, please understand that this board has members with differing skill levels and you will not necessarily be sent to by somebody at the same level as yourself...... so, love the creation you are sent, whatever the standard of sewing, piecing, quilting. We all started somewhere and the most important ingredient in our creations is love!

PLEASE PLEASE REMEMBER TO LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU MAIL AND RECIEVE!!!!!!

PARTNERS:
There is no theme to this exchange, but on this occasion I will be assigning partners.... so you will send to your partner and they will send to you.... this will allow you to contact each other and create your own theme should you wish to do so.

EXTRAS:
This is a secret exchange so please please ensure that you put a card in with your exchange so the recipient knows who has made it. If you can, give a few details about yourself.... it is lovely if we can get to know each other a little better. This exchange is for a needle case only. It is not necessary to put other items in with your exchange but you can if you feel you would like to.

SIGN UP:

Sign up begins today and ends Sunday 28th October 2012. I’ll will assign partners as early after the cut off date as I can and I will let all participants know who their partners are as soon as possible.

DUE DATE:
The deadline for all needle cases to be mailed is
30th November 2012 so there will be plenty of time to manufacture your creation. This is a carved in stone deadline. Please get proof of posting so that we can trace lost packages.

Now for the fun...... to sign up please fill in these details and PM me

1. Name

2. Address

3. Email address

4. Favourite Colours

5. Can you post internationally?

6. Do you have allergies?

Guess I'll sit it out, this time. I'm more of a "mystery partner exchange" fan. Am looking forward to seeing pictures, though! :)

lynnie 10-18-2012 07:22 PM

Neesie, please dont be a party poope! In secret swaps, the person eventually finds out who you are

Chigger Holler Quilter 10-18-2012 08:12 PM

Well....I think I'll sign up for this one! Have to be careful I don't get overloaded...but love the little needle cases! :).....AND it sounds like too much fun!

Hi Lynnie! I'm good. Been busy as always! lol............what am I gonna do? Not sure yet...depends on my time...I'll probably make something that I can just whip out.....for insurance purposes and I'd really like to do something a little fancier if I get the time.
How about you? The next 2 weeks are very full for me...but will keep checking in.

BTW should I be looking for a PM to confirm that hostess got my message? Will there be a post with list of swappers?
:) Have a good day!

I think I might sign up for this. I have to finish my holiday swap blocks first. I have never done a needle case swap and, to be frank, I usually just throw my bitty notions in a ziploc baggie so this would be great for me. A needle case is a much better idea! Gonna work on those blocks tonight and try to get them done!

lynnie 10-19-2012 01:49 PM

Connie, had about 7surgeries last year, got my bionics installed over the summer, top and bottom.
my kitty is two, and as precious as ever. She eats off a silver plate platter. Cant afford solid silver.
Monday, i go in for surgery#25 my left knee replacement. Then after either my rt eye or the hernia. Been busy. Have all my swap stuff done ahead of time, and thats about it. I dont think we get a confirm. Shell prob. Just put a list up soon.
i still need to make a few goodies for my partner, after all, it is the holidays.
Sooooooooo....whats up?

Nelco 10-19-2012 02:55 PM

This will be my first needle case swap and am in and excited. got lots of ideas.

sasquilter 10-20-2012 01:15 AM

Could not sleep tonight, so--- I have made the cutest Christmas needlecase. May have to make several like this for gifts. Can't wait for the swap partners to be assigned. I do hope to sleep sometime.....

lynnie 10-20-2012 07:08 AM

Sooooo tell us what it looks like or better yet a photo

lynnie 10-20-2012 06:41 PM

Just made fancy pins...a snowman head, a red ornament with white beads, oth about1/4", and a tree about1/2" with glass seed bead ornies. What a pain in the patookie!!!!. Also made some s
with pearls and crystals. Enough for one night, but first, i have to string my kitty Zoey's neclace
she looks so pretty in pearls, and she lovesthem. Yes, they are real, this way if she injests them, she can digest them.

JuneBillie 10-22-2012 01:04 PM

I think I also will have to sit out on this one, because I have so many things to work on for the holidays, and several December birthdays too.

shortmom5 10-22-2012 03:08 PM

This is my first needle case swap, I'm really excited, also excited to get to know you all. I made my first one last month for a test run and it was fun.

Blue Cat 10-22-2012 09:01 PM

I'm in too for my first needlecase swap. Don't worry, I've made cases before. I think my sister, sucia, signed up too for her second time around.

rwquilts 10-23-2012 05:50 AM

I participated in the first needlecase swap and think the Christmas one would also be fun to join in on, so I'm pm'd Caroline. Should be super fun!

Gigi07 10-23-2012 05:39 PM

I have been waiting for this one to start up again. It is my first needle case swap. I love the pictures of what ppl are getting. Every one is so creative. I'm in!!

Blue Cat 10-24-2012 12:57 PM

lynnie,

you are irrepressible! i'd like to swap fancy pins with you sometime, but i'm fairly certain that my pins couldn't match your masterpieces.

Blue Cat 10-24-2012 01:01 PM

shortmom5,

this is my first swap, too. I've made needlecases before, just haven't swapped. i would be honored to get someone else's first swap. i sure hope i get your name.

craft phanatic 10-24-2012 01:11 PM

I have a question. Are we supposed to make just like a needle book type think or can it be more like a hussif that holds needle scissors and maybe even a small pin cushion? I'm going to PM and join and have a few ideas but I wanted to make sure I was on the right track first. Oh, and can anyone tell me where pictures are being posted of previous needle case swaps? Maybe that would help me too!

shortmom5 10-24-2012 04:27 PM

Thanks Blue Cat...everyone has to start sometime. I would be glad to get yours also.

mary quilting 10-24-2012 04:39 PM

you can look in the Needlecase Exchange Number 3 for pics

I'm looking forward to a Christmas swap too. But remember that there is no official theme so it is up to you to set up a Christmas swap with your partner. I suppose it is ok for her to send you a Christmas one while you send her another kind.

Blue Cat 10-26-2012 07:09 PM

Well, my understanding is that a simple needlecase is all that is required, but some make a hussif. The hussifs are well received. Look up previous needle case swaps to see pictures. Have fun. Some people add little gifts like needle, fabric or such, but you don't have to. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks Blue Cat! I'm a little nervous but very excited for this exchange! This is my first needle book swap also but I'm up for the challenge! Plus, thanks to Sandy, it looks like I will have a few free days to do some hand stitching for the case cover! I need something to do if the power does go out so this will be perfect! Take care everyone!

shortmom5 10-29-2012 06:05 AM

Praying all in the path of Sandy are ready and in a safe place.

CarolinePaj 10-29-2012 02:30 PM

Thanks Blue Cat! I've only had one day off since the beginning of August. I don't like the reason for having off but I am so exhausted that I'll take a day or two off any way I can get them! I can't hardly believe this storm. It is unbelievable how devastating it is.

lynnie 10-30-2012 10:50 AM
