October 2013 Pincushion & Needlecase Swap (Full and Closed)
 

This will be is a Partnered Swap of your choice: pin cushion, needle case, or both. You may sign up for either 1 or 2 spots. Can be either a pc and a nc; or 2 pc; or 2 nc. Two spots will make it easy on me this time, gals! It’s my first time hosting a swap, but some of you may know me from the mystery quilts. I look forward to being your host in this swap.

You will receive a pc or nc from the person to whom you will send the pc or nc. This will be a secret between the two of you until you post pictures. But if you are asked to post for your partner, don’t post a picture for your partner until you are notified it has been received – let’s not spoil the surprise! Please feel free to PM each other to discuss likes and dislikes that are not covered on the forms you will be receiving.

THEME:
This month, I will leave the swap up to you and your partner. Specify on your form if you want to do a theme or not. I also would like feedback by PM if you prefer a theme or not for future swaps.

CONSTRUCTION:
1.The cushion/case does NOT have to be quilted or hand embroidered, although it can be. But it must be handmade - not purchased.
2. Both must be made of 100% cotton fabric or of wool felt. Needle case should have wool or felt insert.
3. Embellishments/applique/embroidery are welcome but not required.
4. The size and shape of the pincushion/needle case is up to the individual creating it, but should not be smaller than 3” x 3”.

SIGN UP:
Sign up begins today and ends on October 4, 2013 at noon PST. This date is a firm closing time. Partners will be assigned by PM beginning the morning of Oct 7th and should be completed Oct. 8th by end of the day.
Please respond to this thread with a post if you are joining the swap. Then, copy the information sheet, fill it in, and PM it to me. Don't forget to tell me how many spots you want, one or two, and what you want to swap. I will acknowledge receipt of your PM.
DUE DATE:
The deadline for all pincushions/needle cases to be mailed to your partner(s) is Friday, Oct. 25 , 2013. International swappers mail date is Friday, Oct. 18, 2013. Nothing is a given in this life, and, if for some reason you will not be able to fulfill your obligation, please PM me no later than October 15, 2013 so that I can locate a swap angel.
And speaking of swap angels, let me know if you would be willing to be an angel if needed. Thank you.

I would also like to see that you report a feedback score to your SP. Pictures are encouraged, but not required. We all love seeing what everyone is receiving. If you are unable to post a picture, please make sure that you mark that on your information sheet so that your partner can take a picture before shipping it. Please understand that this board has members with differing skill levels and you will not necessarily be swapping with someone at the same level. Let's love the creation we are sent. We all started somewhere and the most important thing to remember, is that our partner made it with you in mind!

I'd like to play, but I have a question about the information sheet, specifically the line:

I don't understand the question. Do you mean "wool vs cotton" or "quilted pillow vs needle felted zombie head"? I'm sorry if I sound dense, but it's been a long work week already and I've not done a PC swap before.

Argentium, I guess I will be changing that line, it is a big ambiguous! But I just meant, is there anything you'd like, and as lynnie says, she'll take a zombie head, but of course no one is obligated to do that! Hope you will join us, it really is a fun swap with a great bunch of people.

Oh sorry, I need to do the chart thingie, but I don't know how to do it and send it over, so hopefully tomorrow someone will stop in to give me a hand! I would like to do a needle case. Will start on one tomorrow, beautiful fall weather here in Iowa! 80 with slight breeze, wish it would always be like this!

Jean, just go up to the chart thingie, highlight it by dragging your cursor over what is typed and it will be highlighted. then go up to the copy feature, click on "copy" then open a PM to me and put yuour cursor in the body of the PM and
click the paste feature and it will appear in the new email. Then go up and fill in your info. Easy peasy.

Or, send me your email and I will copy and past the info into an email, then when you open the email, hit respond and you can fill in and send back to me.

I think the worst of my time crunch is behind me - just finished a huge "dog and pony" show at work for a big potential customer and sounds like it was worth all the time and energy we put into it - so I should be able to make the deadline.

just rec'd. two side swaps from cheerio and crissy. wow is all I can say. don't have a camera, i'll describe.
one of them is a pumpkin, but not the usual one, this one is pudgy and has some sparkle to it. I love it. the other is a witches hat, with a broom on it. both of them are so beautiful, and the workmanship is impeccable. I love them both and have them on my front table by my haunted house. I joined the swap here and have one of my pc's. to swap. can't wait to see what I get from our little swap. it's exciting. i'll also add that these two swappers were prompt in the shipping area. thank you both!!!

Wish this swap allowed felt to be used for the pincushions. :( But I will have a great time watching what everyone else makes!!

I've rec'd some exemplary specimens made of felt, and would welcome a felt one anytime.

I will be working on this and digging around my idea book to figure out how to sew up something to help owlvamp with her charity project.
