Winter 2012 Postage Stamp (1.5") Squares Swap-Sign up closes 1/15/13

This swap is for 1.5" squares (postage stamps) in sets of 50 different 100% cotton fabrics. Please send what you would like to receive. Limit is 30 sets per swapper.

*Please send me a PM to sign up, and let me know how many sets you'd like to swap.

*Please use quality 100% cottons only! NO flannel, NO blends. If in doubt of fiber content, please leave it out!

*All sets do not need to be identical. You can use any 100% cottons in your stash!

*Please MAKE SURE to trim off selvages before cutting your squares. Also try to be accurate in your cutting of the squares, so they DO measure 1.5".

*Please double check that your sets have 50 (or more) squares in them! We don't want to short change anyone.
Also check that there are 50 DIFFERENT fabrics. :)

*It seems to work best to put the squares into small, snack size baggies. Be sure to label each baggie with your name, board name, etc.

Sign-ups close Jan. 15, 2013. Sets are due to me by Jan. 30th. I will swap them out, and get them in the mail no later than Feb. 10th.
** International folks, please mail 10 days earlier! To make sure I get them in time.**

Please include a SASE with adequate postage on it for me to send your return sets. An extra stamp or two wouldn't hurt. Our packages are "bulky" and get considered a "parcel"-per my Post Office. They charge more for that.
NO pre-paid printed labels!
Most folks have been sending in stamps or cash for a PADDED flat rate envelope ($5.30). It does make things a lot easier, and no worries about bulky packages. Delivery Confirmation is extra.
If your sets cost more than what you sent in, I have no choice to hold them until I get the difference. In the last swap, I had several that were "over". It all adds up. Thanks for your understanding.

Please feel free to mail your sets early, if you wish.

General rules for swaps: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20154-1.htm

If you have any questions or concerns, please send me a PM.

quiltinghere 12-14-2012 04:55 AM

wooohoooo - I'll be the first to sign up - hopefully I'll remember! hahaha

I will order those padded flat rate envelopes so I have them for the swap - after all... THEY'RE FREEEEEEEE!

Nan

Evie 12-14-2012 08:27 AM

Yes! I've been waiting patiently for this winter swap. Count me in.

Mariposa 12-14-2012 09:04 AM

Evie-- I will do that! :)

QuilterMomma 12-14-2012 04:55 PM

Not sure if I could really do this swap. How much fabric do you really have to have? Seems interesting.

Quilter Day-by-Day 12-15-2012 07:12 AM

If I understand you right there is not suppose to be any duplicates at all and that's 30 sets of 50

Mariposa 12-15-2012 09:06 AM

Quilter- yes, that is correct. No duplicates, and a limit of 30 sets per swapper. It is amazing to see all the different fabrics that are out there!

Guess it depends on what type of project you'd like to do. Say, a charm quilt that is 50 x 70 squares. That is 3500 squares alone!! Plus borders-
But oh what fun is all the "collecting"! :)

Pre-washed or not pre-washed?

Mine are all pre-washed. There is probably a fair share of both that are swapped. :)

peaceandjoy 12-15-2012 04:47 PM

Yay! Glad I saw this in the newsletter edition today! Sending a PM.

Mariposa 12-15-2012 05:13 PM

peaceandjoy- I have you on the list! :)

barri1 12-15-2012 05:38 PM

I am soooooo excited.. I would love to join the swap. I'm glad I cut squares before Sandy came. My time right now is not my own. My office is in an area that was hit very hard by destruction. Even though we only lost power for two weeks, our patients are displaced, and stressed. I have to figure out how many sets I will do.. I still haven't touch the ones from the last swap, but I will get to everything.. Will PM you soon..

Mariposa 12-15-2012 08:13 PM

barri-- glad to know you are alright. :)

Twisted Quilter 12-16-2012 06:44 PM

A big THANK YOU to Barri1 for letting me know about the swap, otherwise I would
have missed it.

Sending PM for 20 sets.

marytoddliz 12-17-2012 02:34 PM

I am in for 30, do you want a PM also? And when is the deadline to mail? I should not have a problem as most of mine are already cut I just need to sort and stack.

Merry Christmas, Marybeth

I am in again. I love this swap. Just not sure if i'll do 20 or 30. As soon as i get home on Wednesday, i'll check to see what i have cut already. If i have to cut more, it will be slow going. I had to have surgery for a left "trigger thumb" last Tuesday. Stitches come out tomorrow.

Psychomomquilter 12-18-2012 09:40 AM

ok I am in, I think I can handle 2 sets

shelrox 12-18-2012 02:54 PM

Count me in for 20 Thank you once again for all of your hard work...

Mariposa 12-18-2012 03:20 PM

shelrox- I got your Pm :)

dottie dodge 12-19-2012 06:59 AM

Sign me up for 30 sets. Can't get enough of these little squares! I think I am close to having enough square sewn together, I'm doing 5 sq x 5 sq, to start putting them into rows. SueD

amymarieski 12-21-2012 08:40 PM

I want to participate and do 30 sets. Do not know how to pm you. Please let me know how to do this. Thanks!

Mariposa 12-28-2012 03:42 PM

bepositive-- gotcha! :)

sew4nin 12-29-2012 08:48 AM

Can't believe I almost missed this! I was reading another thread a minute ago and barri1 mentioned it. Thank you barri1!
I will pm when I know for sure how many sets I can do. Not sure if anyone has ever broken a rib, but it definitely slows the rotary cutting;)

judy_68 12-29-2012 05:13 PM

Mailed mine yesterday.

Mariposa 12-30-2012 06:10 AM

sew4nin--bummer about the rib! DO take it easy on yourself! :)

judy_68-- you are quick!!

judy_68 12-30-2012 12:58 PM

I cut 1.5" squares all the time because Im in alot of swaps. I swap one on one and Im in a couple other groups too. Im working on 2 quilts made with all 1.5" squares for my sons.
Judy

marytoddliz 12-30-2012 05:13 PM

Mine are done and ready to go! So where do you find other swaps for 1.5? Are they on other quilting sites? I have lots of 1.5 squares ready to trade. I try to cut all my scraps into usable sizes so I have lots to trade.

Sending sets out in the morning to you Mariposa.

Marybeth

Mariposa 12-31-2012 05:53 AM

mary-- I'll be watching for them! :)

SheriR 12-31-2012 11:22 AM

OH I'm in. 30 sets. Can you believe I JUST saw your swap....

barri1 12-31-2012 12:14 PM

I have them all bagged, and ready to go. I was a little surprised that the post office closed at 12:00.. I wasn't the only one.. There were a couple of us grumbling outside the door..
Have a happy new year..

judy_68 12-31-2012 01:08 PM

Marybeth,
I will trade one on one with you if you want. I am always trading with people.
Judy

booklady 12-31-2012 07:10 PM

frustratedquilter40 01-01-2013 03:18 PM

Mariposa I have been trying to avoid joining but I need more squares since I just started collecting :) So I give in sending you a PM now.

quiltingnd 01-01-2013 08:37 PM

I've never done one of these so I am a bit confused, but if someone would explain it in simpler terms, I might be able to join.

LovingIzabella 01-02-2013 12:20 PM

I think I can handle this :) I will do 30 sets or however many sign up.
Hugs
April
