about 16 yrs ago I traded with my neighbor Carol. She wanted a quilt and I needed some painting done. So she bought the fabric and I made this - my one and only king size quilt- I did it over one whole winter and it is 100% sewn by hand no machine stitching at all. I echo quilted around the Sues and STID along the sashing. I made a paper version of the Sues and hand stitched around those paper Sues to quilt the wide border. Carol did the binding.
The Sues are pretty simple but she liked it.

Thumbs up Using scraps in swaps

I use a lot of my scraps in swaps. this does not work if you need to make 12 identical blocks with the same fabric but more and more there are swaps you need to make 6 of the same pattern but they can be different colors. Here is one I am in right now

It calls for 6 blocks of the same pattern but they can be made with different fabrics. Here is a picture of my first set for this swap.

Above that are pictures of blocks I received back in a similar previous swap.

I love the Sue quilt Rhonda! Sounds like a big job all by hand but so worth it.

Several months ago, someone posted a link to "Pure Comfort Wraps". I talked w/my DSIL (she works at an assisted living facility) and we decided to make them for Christmas for some of the residents that didn't have anyone that visited them. We needed 12. So, my cousin (made 1 2/3), her daughter (made 5), my DSIL (made 3 1/3), and I (made 2)decided to do this. I quilted all 12, and my DSIL bound all of them. So here are some of our pics.

I was just about to make one of these comfort quilts for my Dad after seeing this thread posted this week. This afternoon I got word that my Dad, an Alzheimer patient, lost his battle with this disease. It brings such a mixture of feelings... Dad is released from his suffering but I miss him so much.

I am so sorry you lost your dad. No matter the situation it is hard to lose someone so close to you. {{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}
