QuiltingMomma is correct. quiltin'gran *did* report at the end of March that she was done with her quilt for carolinepaj but had not yet shipped it. So her quilt is done, but it was/is QuiltingMomma who is doing three quilts, one of which is completed. Revised list-- I've added myself: finished the label; just need to photograph, pack and ship to Gwyn/Mamasani!

And can I just say how amazingly impressed I am with all of you? There are many participants in this swap who are facing either their own or a family member's health issues and yet continue to work on their quilts for this swap. I am blown over by how much love is in this swap.

Carolyn/islandwiz,

I googled your quilt and most of the ones I've seen where I can see the quilting have criss-cross quilting in the background.

Does anyone else have suggestions for Carolyn on how to quilt her Baltimore Album for wuv2quilt?

I'm just needing a label as well and mine will be ready to ship off... and since I'm in packing/moving mode again it should be out soon so it doesn't get lost

Quiltermomma - I'd get that checked for sure! Infection can make the fix they did a bigger problem in the end by messing with the healing process. Sending good thoughts your way.

Islandwiz - that is spectacular! I would either fill in the backgrounds with a stipple or cross hatch - or echo the appliques

Shnnn, What size cross hatch do you think would work on these blocks. I have never done that before. If it wasn't for my DH being so sick from the cancers I would have sent it out to be quilted. Just can't afford it now. So please tell me if 2 inches apart is ok. Wuv2quilt saw it and she loves it and I don't want to ruin it with quilting it wrong. I only did stippling once .

islandwiz1, if you are going to cross hatch, do what is most comfortable for you. 2" is ok, but 1" has more impact. I would not put the cross hatch over the applique, I would quilt around it.

If it were me, even if I used my domestic machine, I would quilt around the applique, if some of the pieces are real large, I would quilt with the same color thread if possible as the applique to tack them down so they will not be coming off if a stich is cut accidently. Then I would do a variety of background fills. Leah Day has a series on background fills that could give you some ideas. It all depends on the impact you want. Then I would be sure to stabilize the quilt with a stitch in the ditch around each block, corner stone, and border. This will help so you do not get any puckers on it while quilting. On the borders and sashings, I would do a feather with a stem inside it and maybe an echo. Yes, maybe more than you want to do, but that is what I would do. The quilt is so gorgeous, it needs a quilt job on it the same as your awesome work!

Carolyn, what a stunning quilt. You have done yourself proud with all that applique. I want to come sit with you so you can teach me your techniques. It's fabulous! For quilting, were it me, I would put some texture quilting within the flowers, leaves and stems etc. Then I would outline quilt each motif 2-3 times and then very tiny stippling to fill the white edges outside the outline stitching. I do long arm though so if you are hand quilting that would probably be too much. I would SID all the sashing and corner blocks as well. I'm sure that whatever you decide on will be perfect. Thanks for sharing.

QuilterMomma, I'm so sorry to hear that you are having post surgical issues. I'm having a similar issues with wounds not healing. At least the pneumonia I had has finally gone. I hope your healing progresses quickly without further incident. Take good care of yourself and please see your doctor about all of this.

For the rest of you who have shown your finished projects...I am so impressed. Every quilt is so perfect and lovely. You all have very lucky swap partners! I know they will all be so thrilled to receive what you have made for them. Nice work everyone!!

Like your quilting ideas also Rose L and thank you.

I have come to realize why I left the log cabin as a UFO. I am thinking these things will never grow. I suppose if I had not cut them into 1" finished size then they would get bigger faster. I am only on round three and have four more to go to make sure big enough so can do some pretty quilting on it. Then my applique one is no fun right now because I the one daughter is not here to cut things out for me. She is in college. She has the patience to sit and do that sort of thing. she laughs at me when I do applique because if not done on machine, I give her "the look" and she just holds her hands out and says she will do it. When stitches are out I am sure the cutting will be much easier. Well back to work so I can get home and do some more logs.
