Well ladies..having a bit of trouble right off the bat. I have some fabric that I got to do test blocks on everyone's blocks. Boy am I glad I did... I think I found out what happens when you try to quilt when you are frustrated about other things. I've been trying to pack our house for our move that is now coming up rather rapidly for my taste as well as coordinate how to get a cat, new puppy, moving truck, 2 cars, and 2 very tired adults from Chicago to Maine all at the same time...and hopefully have beds to sleep in when we get there. Anyway I tried TravelingGrandma's block today with my fabric. Boy did I do a bad job. It came out 13 inches...points are wonky, seams are all puckered. What the heck?! I was having so much trouble with my 1/4 inch guide foot that I gave it up and went back to a regular foot. Maybe my seams were too scant? And perhaps I should have spent more energy trimming my HSTs? I feel like this isn't a hard block and I botched it...oh dear.

I bet it's a trimming issue on the hsts. I'm looking at the intersections on the free edges of your block and it looks like your points go right to the edge. I bet if you pull the seams and re-trim, it will come out correct. Usually the points on the free edges will have a 1/4" gap between point and edge. If that doesn't make sense, go back a few posts (#335 I think) to the pictures of blocks with hsts (the blue & white one someone sewed for me). Hopefully that makes sense?

LJ Dugas' blocks. I've got 2 other sets pulled and started but I can't recall who they belong to.

ljdugas, did you want a solid black for your block? I found a pretty black with flowers on it I was going to use. (The flowers are small, and the primary color is the black). Let me know so I don't do it wrong!

every one is really working hard. Ilovw ro surprise people and get rewarded with smiles. that is so special. Mama H, however you want to seal them is ok with me. You ladies that are moving in the mist of doing a boom are very brave. My only big thing on my plate is the giant English Tea/quilt auction that I am in charge of for my guild. I have discovered that people are quite content to let "someone" do it all. I want to meet "someone" because I have a lot for them to do. LOL. I can't wait until April 25 and then I will be free to sew my blocks. Too stressed with the tea stuff and so I dont want to start on our blocks and mess them up in my frustration.

celandine, that fabric sounds fine. Tiny print with black is good. Thank you for asking!
