Whimsical is fine--can't wait to see what you create!

Know it's cold up here and my brother in mid Florida says it's been much cooler than usual for this time of the year there. What's it like in Mississippi?

We have a cold day or 2 in the 30's, then a couple of 60's, then a few days of 50's. You know---if you don't like the weather, just wait a few minutes cause it will change. Very little snow if any. The worst thing we fear is an ice storm cause we're usually on the line between ice to the north and rain to the south.

This year has been pretty normal, but today is supposed to be nice and 45ish. yea
Stay warm!

I feel for you driving on the ice...of all road conditions I think that's probably the worst because it's so sneaky. We had snow yesterday, around 2 1/2". Driving was tedious because of the snow ruts but also you discovered pretty quickly it was covering a sheet of ice. Think it's easier to drive on snow packed ice though than just plain "black ice".... at least there's a teeny bit of traction. Last winter was unusual in that we didn't HAVE one!!! but, typically, in the last maybe 10 years or so we have a week of cold then a week of warm, etc. as, we have been in the teens with single digits at night this week but today 25, then 33, then 47, then 60 degrees Tues and then gradually back down in the 20's. Actually I prefer cool weather. Use to not be able to wait 'till summer but they've been so hot and muggy the last few years and have no air conditioning. Anyway, cool is for quilting!!!

Got it Jane. Was looking for it next Tues but was pleasantly surprised when I found it in the mail today...YEAH! Yours is "lookin' good!" Barbara! Think the addition of the "waves" was a great idea...would never have thought of that and what is more "beachy" than the ocean! Thanks for including the sashing strips...not seen anything like it around here. As far as your request for suggestions for the quilting and backing and binding fabrics.....if it were mine I would probably use a small print on the back maybe the color of sand and applique large, soft pink footprints across it at an angle but then, I like whimsical. As far as quilting goes I'm rather minimalistic. So often it seems like people spend hours and hours piecing intricate blocks and then quilt so heavily they literally lose the design of the quilt. Would probably use a side to side repeat of a beach motif...wave, shell, starfish, etc. I could see a narrow, plain border in maybe pink or the "sunshiny" orange you used with a wider border of some kind of horizontal stripe like in some deck chairs...but that's just me

Yvonne, I Love your ideas! I hadn't even thought that far ahead. I like whimsical things, too. The only design that I had thought of was maybe an ocean wave kind of thing. Since we've been on lots of Caribbean cruises, I chose this theme to "take me there" whenever I want to go. We visited a place on Cayman I. where we watched the ladies making batik fabrics.
Have fun--looking forward to the butterflies next.

Barbara, I won't mail butterflies until Friday. I have worked too many hours the past two weeks to get to PO. I am off Friday and will ship then. Twelve hour rotating shifts are killing me!
