OK. It looks like it is time to get started.

Per Qbee, we will always send the row we make to the person listed after us. If everyone wants to PM me with your address, I can pass it to the correct person.

Mailing Dates

You have two months to get each round done.

1st Row – mail by Dec. 1st
Row 2 – Feb. 1st
Row 3 – April 1st
Row 4 – June. 1st
Row 5 – Aug. 1st

I have never done this before so feel free to jump in with suggestions of things that have worked in the past if you have experience or ideas.

We need to make a few decisions.

#1. Sashing? If someone wants sashing on their quilt, do you mind if the sashing strips are included for each person to add with their row? It could increase mailing cost a bit, but I doubt much.

#2. How do you want to handle labels?

#3. How should the quilt owner convey their vision of the quilt to the group? I was thinking each owner could send along letter stating their theme and what that theme means to them. Any other suggestions or ideas?

#4. Should rows be mailed early if finished early?

Hello everyone ready to play guess this means i need to figure out what my theme will be. If its ok I would like to include sashing I did a row robin last year and I think the sashing will work better for me in the finish product. I think if everyone is able to mail early its ok put I wouldnt want to mail to someone who is still working on one, dont want to rush anyone.

Hi all, Glad I am signed up to do this RR. I also need a Theme. What I would really like is a Pantry quilt. I saw one years ago. Its anything that might be in a pantry.. mine has EVERYTHING in it. I just dont know if there is enough to do 5 blocks for each of us. Its like a book shelf or canning jar quilt. In fact those things can go in the pantry quilt also. What does everyone think??? If I do the Pantry Q I really dont care if the rows are sewed together.. I would like to place them where I wanted them... Let me know if this is a bad idea. In my head I can see it. Mailing early is OK with me too. But not going to rush anyone.. Cant wait to get started.

I think a pantry quilt could work just fine. Like you said, most pantries have just about everything in them!

Since we have more than one opinion on sashings, maybe we could do whatever the quilt owner wants. I see no reason they all have to be done the same way.

I'm not worried if I need to mail sashing with the row. I'm not for sure that I'm going to do sashing. I have my row for group #2, but not for our group yet. I'm thinking of black and white and maybe emerald green in traditional or modern blocks.

If it's ok, I will send out a label ready to go and each person can sign it. Mailing early is fine with me and a letter or drawing or whatever works is fine for conveying design/vision/theme, etc.

I don't have much experience with applique or embroidery.

Thanks for your input, Mama. Unless I change my mind pretty quick, my theme is black, white and grey traditional blocks. We may end up with matching quilts!

Hi All,
Oh I am excited and I just got email this morning so our journey is beginning! Yes on sashing for me but I am not stuck on anything so I can change my mind, however, it looks like we each decide for our own themed quilt so for me sashing would work. My theme is going to be an Asian theme.

Lisa in number one I have a question are you saying that I, for instance should include the sashing strips when I send my row to Pat-sews for all the rows? That is fine with me as well.

For number two: I am a newbie and don't have any labels so I am open to feedback on this one. I am sure I can get labels in the next two months.

Number three: your idea of sending the quilt with a letter of the theme and what it means is great but since we all have to have a theme I would love to know every ones themes so I can think about it before it arrives and the two month time clock starts ticking!

And number four: yes if the rows are done early I am fine with them being sent early!

Road I am fine with you sending the sashing along. Will you have it cut or do we cut it? I think sending sashing along is good because we could match colors but since I never did anything like this before I am not sure. I guess I think about a finished quilt and would like it all to blend but again I am not sure. Don't worry about rushing me as I assume we still go by the mailing dates.

Pat-sews, I think your idea of a pantry quilt is great because it is your idea, we just have to add to it and right now I am not sure what I will do for a pantry quilt but that is the fun of the project as it gets me to think! Great idea.

Lisa I agree, letting the theme owner call the shots about sashing. I would like to be clear though if we add our own sashing or does the theme owner send it. I vote for the theme owner to call the shot and that could be that the theme owner tells the rest to make up your own mind!

OK mama I am confused. Are we sending to group 2 or are we sending to each other in group 5. That is my understanding that all of us in group 5 send to each other while the other groups send to their group members. Do I have that right or do the groups send to the other groups. Like I said I haven't done this before so maybe I don't have it right!

One last thing...every time we want to connect with each other how do we do that? By looking on the main posts or will there be a title for connection of the people in the row robi? Sorry for the long text but just trying to be clear. So to let you all know I will be doing an Asian theme. Let me know what you all think! Have a good day ladies!

I would like to know a little about everyone if thats ok just so I can picture you in my mind and figure out about your quilts.

I'm from a little town in Oklahoma. I have 2 daughters, 4 grandkids ,2 girls and 2 boys. My husband and youngest daughter run the business(daughter runs it now and gets to tell daddy what to do, ever kids dream). I quit and take care of the farm 100 mama cows my 12 horses, chickens, quail and turkeys. Hobbies include quilting, breaking ponies to harness, builting buggies and wagons. I love to hunt and fish, think I'm an old tomboy your right. Still haven't figured out my theme but will get on it.

On the quilt labels you can make your own using watercolor pens, crayons or sharpies then heat setting them it very easy

OK Here is what I think we have so far. Jump in if I'm wrong about anything.

#1. Each quilt owner will include all the necessary sashing strips if they want sashing strips used. When the quilt owner finishes row 1 they can attach the sashing. The person making row 2 will then attach the next sashing strip. IF YOU DO NOT WANT SASHING AND YOU DO NOT WANT ROWS CONNECTED, make sure to indicate that in your note about your quilt. I know some people have said they would like to get unconnected rows back so they may put them in any order or decide about sashing later.

#2. Send along a label if you want one used. The quilt owner will create the label in any fashion they choose. It can be simple fabric with a pigma pen or fancy embroidery or whatever. Just remember that not everyone will have the ability to sign their name in fancy embroidery. Some labels will be signed with pigma pens and such.

#3. Each person should send along a note of some kind with their quilt giving ideas of what they would like to see. Mine could be something like this: "Black, white, grey, prints of any combination of these, tone on tones, etc. in traditional block styles. I love Sun Bonnet Sues, all kinds of embroidery (think redwork only grey or black)." A little note like that will give people an idea of the quilt owners thoughts.

#4. Each person will always send the quilt to the person listed after them at the beginning of this thread. I will always be sending to Roda. Roda will send to Jude. Jude will send to Pat. Pat sends to Mama. Mama sends to me. Make sure the person who needs to send to you has your address in plenty of time. You can either all PM to me and I will distribute or you may PM directly to the person who needs to send to you.

#5. Sending early is OK. Let's just ask the person we are sending it to if they are ready. Some people have many projects going on and might not want another one laying around. If you are ready to send a row out early, ask the next person if they are ready for it.

#6. Communication meant for the entire group should be posted here. Thoughts, suggestions, pictures, etc. If you have a direct question about the row you are working on, feel free to PM the row owner or put it on here.

#7. Have fun! Don't stress out about any of this. This is to be a fun, social event.
