Bertie I love your quilt too! The eagle is wonderful and I love your little touches with embroidery! Cogito you have one speedy and great partner!.

Sue, I placed an order with Cotton Pickers for a Judy Niemeyer table runner pattern that they had run out of at the quilt show. While I was on their website I wrote a note to tell them who skaduzy is. Wow that is some quilt store from the pictures I can see online. Lucky you!

Thanks Krystyna - we do try to make things look cozy. Our problem is the piling up habit both DH and I have. Right now things still look nice from preparing for our daughter's wedding. I hope you can salvage your pot - that's a great idea to use it for wool boiling.

Toooo funny Lynnie! You probably don't want us drawing up a visual in our minds... hee hee. I had to remind myself that it is hot in wintertime down under.

Oh my gosh BuzzinBumble I havent heard "Ooftah" since I moved from Ames, Iowa......here is the story: Back 12 years ago my husband and our two youngest children moved from Central Nebraska to Ames, Iowa a small university town north of Des Moines, IA about 45 miles. We had lived in NE all of our lives. I started hearing that word "Ooftah" and thought huh? I actually finally stopped a lady in the mall who said it and asked if she would be kind enough to explain....she said it is just and expression like "Geez!" Interestingly enough when we moved to Des Moines the next year I never heard the expression again. So.....what is your take on it? Does it originate from Sweden? There were quite a few folks up there with Swedish heritage.....Enquiring minds want to know.

That's funny Cogito - I didn't realize it was so rare to hear. My grandparents were of Norwegian ancestory and my grandmother said "Ooftah!" often. It means the same thing as "Oh my goodness" or "Good grief" or like you said "Geez". It must be a Swedish saying too, which makes sense, since they have only been separate countries in recent history. It must be heard a lot in the areas of our country with larger concentrations of people with Scandanavian heritage. The word is used like crazy in Scandanavian jokes. It is spelled a lot of different ways... uff-da being used more often. Hah hah I sound like a linguist or something. I do love to learn the background of things and we can see you do too.

Bertie, I love that quilt -- and the fabric on the back is wonderful. Lucky Cogito!

Regarding Oof-dah ... I don't know where he got it from, but my son uses Oofka! a lot. Means the same thing. Perhaps he picked it up playing Husker-du? Here is what I found as an explanation -- although urban slang says it means something quite different

Hmmm. How about an oof-dah theme some month?

Bertie/Cogito.......LOVE! that eagle quilt.....very nice!!!!!!!

I got my quilt made for Alaska last night......piecing wasnt a problem....but have you have had a red bleed just from the steam iron??????? oh boy! that fabric is going in TRASH!... I had to wash it with a color catcher and i think it came out. Remind me not to use red fabric ever again.....other than that quilt came out cute.

Aww thanks Kimmie! Looking at your pretty scene in your avatar, you don't need any help! Where in western NY are you, if you don't mind saying?

Professor Krystyna - you always find the most interesting links.
An Off-dah theme would be fun! Of course I would think that.

PS - Oh my gosh I just checked out your Etsy page Kimmie - Very Nice! I saved you as a favorite and also saw that you live near me!
