Thanks Tricia i will check it out.. sounds like something I would love. I just finished a wonderful block for the humane society, I can not believe I havent tried it before its a nine patch snowball? two snowballs, two nine patches and its a perfect pattern to showcase fussy cuts.. learn something new every day. i think it was that it said its great with brights I must have just never looked at it hard enough to see it differently. Now all of them are getting second chance looks lol.. probably fifth chance and twentieth.. love quilters cache.

When we were just little brats! we lived on the beach south of Santa Cruz.(you could see the ocean from our living room, it was awesome, now all the houses are torn down and mansions are built there, no poor kids live anywhere near our old neighborhood) It wasn't completely remote but the houses were quite a ways apart, so my Dad, having 8 kids decided to have a neighborhood harvest party, everyone would bring all their candy "treats" in buckets and set up stations, like the school carnivals are now days. And we had lots of games and scavenger hunts and food! tons of food.

The trick or treating was a element all in it's own. Some people would ask for tricks to be preformed, others asked for stuff like sing a song, solve a riddle... It was great fun. This all took place in a huge barn that belonged to one of the hay farmers in the area, all we had to do was clean up the mess so the workers could get back to work the next day! We had hay rides if the hay had not been delivered, but if there was hardly any hay we made a haunted house.

Halloween meant good times when I was a kid. And a lot of the "candy" was actually homemade popcorn balls, caramel apples, Oranges, Quarters, pieces of cake, homemade fudge. and full sized chocolate bars! I know growing up in the 50's and 60's was not always perfect, but the things we worried about were a lot different than they are now. Oh yeah and NOBODY had a store bought costume, they were all hand made, a lot of time we made our own, might be why I started sewing at an early age.

Thanks for taking me back to that age of innocence, Halloween was not about devils or horror movies, it was about fun, sometimes scary fun, but it was clean fun.

I guess I need to put away my soap box now

oops almost forgot I received a block from Pink Lotus, I am going to post pictures right now, before I forget again!
I remember well those days. Great

Marybeth glad you enjoyed the little quilt. I actually didnt forget the tag I chose not to add one. I dont have a fabric pen and if i did I hate writing on fabric. I should have pinned a little to from on it and apologize. that I forgot. Too busy getting that candy out of the house before it said Linda, eat me, one little piece of that with a cup of tea.. yum could not eat the whole bar however..

Marytoddliz sent me a totally cool wall quilt today and I wish I had batteries in t he old camera to show you. Two trips to the market this week, twice I forgot them. Maybe she will post for me? its made of continual strips sewn together cut then attached and then cut again and sewn together and so on, its a beautiful array of halloween colors and other coordinates.. and she embroidered cats on the back for ME and embroidered her to from there also. On the front bottom left corner is a cute little black cat with a nice big nose! oh oh there was also a fat quarter of fall fabric so I can get that November wally done for my daughther. Big hugs and a big thanks.

Marytoddliz, your DQ is gorgeous. And love the extras, especially the B&H Quilt Sampler Shop Hop mags, just love looking and reading about the quilting shops in the USA. Lucky you!

Marytoddliz, what a great DQ Elisabrat made for you! the picture cracked me up! And my, what a nice array of goodies she included for you as well? Great job!

Krystyna, hope today goes great for you and your family with sales and you come home with nothing, but a chest full of money!

My partner Nise and I have emailed back and forth and I am still thinking about what I want to make for her. Hmmmm. I have a couple of ideas though...

I really enjoyed making this for you! The Cats on Pumpkins did not turn out as well as I would have liked them, but back to the drawing board!
