I've been doing all my sewing and scrapbooking in the dining room (hardwood) and I hate cleaning up the little bits of paper and thread on the wood floor. My dog walks through the dining room, or I do, and the little bits scatter everywhere, into the living room, kitchen, etc., and I end up having to vaccum the entire main floor. So this was the primary reason that I opted for carpet in the new sewing room - little bits will stick to the carpet and stay in one place! Also, I live in Canada, and it gets cold here in the winter, and the hardwood floors get cold. So carpet in the basement is a lot warmer. If I ever build another new house or renovate one, I'll put heating under the ceramic in the kitchen. OMG it gets cold in the winter!!!
Yes, ceramic heating would be great where you are. I am in a much warmer climate so the hardwoods would probably not be as cold. But I do like berber. When we carpeted the familyroom/kitchen I couldn't find any berber. I really wanted it and wish I had held out for it. I put in a semiplush and of course, it has multiple spots on it now from foods dropped, muddy shoes, etc. Will look for berber again. it just wears so well. I love your room. I know you are excited to be in there. Thanks for sharing it with all of us.

It looks as if it is almost finished. It is looking very nice and will certainly be a wonderful work area.

Dreams do come true! It's amazing to me that you had a vision of what you're winding up with when I look at your first pictures. You're truly a very practical artist!
