This looks wonderful! I bought two kitchen counter units with storage under. They are high and I can make a square surface or a long counter, depending on what I am doing. I have hardwood floors, and coasters under the legs of the counters, so I can move them fairly easily. (Wait for Ikea sale if this idea appeals!)

That is a great use of a kitchen island -- what a terrific storage unit! Plus, if you have friends over, they can pull up kitchen stools and work at the unit, too.
