That is great, I wouldn't f thought about putting material in it. If mine, it would be full of junk, but I like this.

Thanks for all the nice comments. Will try to answer the questions...height of table top is 36 inches. My husband will be building the rest of the cabinets and sewing table, but he decided this island was something he wanted to have built for me. We went to Lowes at first, but learned that even though they called it a custom cabinet - you had to choose from their options...no room for getting exactly what I wanted. So we called some local cabinet makers and were pleasantly surprised they would build a cabinet from better materials for less cost. I originally planned to have this cabinet painted white as this is what we will do with the rest of the room...but the cabinet maker charged more to paint it than to stain it...soooo he did a great job of matching the stain to the flooring. I will post more pics as we get more stuff built for it. We are presently working on another storage cabinet then will work on the sewing table.
