Red face Inexpensive Cutting Table

I was lucky enough a few weeks ago to find a used desk for sale for $10. The approximate size was 24" deep by 36" wide - just the size of the new cutting mat I bought. It is super sturdy with a slide out shelf where a keyboard would go and storage below that (the other slideout shelf was missing). I then purchased 4 locking casters at Home Depot and installed them on the desk legs so I can move it easily plus I like the extra height they provided - the cutting surface is 32" high. While I would love to have a permanent cutting station, this will do for now. I can store my rulers on the slide out shelf and some of my project boxes underneath. I am tickled with my new cutting table / storage unit for under $20.

I think that is a wonderful idea - wish I would have thought of it! the storage looks like the best I have seen.

Awesome! I don't even think you'll need a "permanent" one, I think this is great. It's a good size and height and with the wheels you can move it when you need to. Terrific!!

Perfection!!! If it works for you now and when you can expand I bet this can work with that too!

It looks like a computer desk that has a much happier life now! Great job. Mind if some of us steal the idea?
