I've been drooling over a large piece of plywood in my DH's shop. I made an ironing board out of a piece of plywood
18" X 48". I could have made it longer and wished I had. Found out really quickly that I didn't really have any room to set the iron down and still be able to smooth out a length of fabric 45" wide. This new piece of plywood is about 24" X 53". That would be a really nice size. I set my board on a table which is 24" X 48" and I raised it up with PVC pipe over the legs.

Default Ironing board

Is it rectangular shaped or shaped like a regular ironing board, but wider?

Kathy it is 18 x 48, just like reg ironing board but wider...I got one several months ago and love, love, love it. I did go to Bed, Bath & Beyond and got a thick ironing board cover - just put it on over the one that came with it, used one of my 20% off coupons. The board is nice and heavy too...You can't go wrong for the price.

I looked online at Walmart after I saw this thread and did not see a wider ironing board.
